I'm back to my regular routine after an exciting quilting adventure last week. It's Monday, so that means a design wall posting on my blog. Prior to my Vermont trip I was working on my Capricorn Quilts BOM (from 2008!) blocks, and I am happy to announce that the blocks are finally sewn into a quilt top!!! I auditioned possibilities on this blog post last month, and finally decided on this option. 
It's a difficult quilt to photograph with all the white, and looks much prettier in person than on the computer screen. I like this layout because it finishes the red chains out to the edge of the quilt, and I also like that this design gives me some white triangles in which to feature some quilting designs. And speaking of quilting, this is another quilt that is enticing me to do some hand quilting...I'm hoping that idea passes!Hop over to Patchwork Times and see what other quilters are working on this week.

Kathy, I really like this! I clicked on the photo and it enlarged it very nicely, which allowed me to see all the darling embroidered blocks. It's wonderful!! Happy Monday! :)
It looks lovely and I do hope that you will do some hand-quilting on it. It doesn't need to be too elaborate but boy will it make it a special family heirloom.

You say it was a 2008 BOM like it was a bad thing - aren't all BOM's supposed to take an average of 5 years to complete? (Please say yes, because my Capricorn BOM isn't finished yet!)
Love the setting. I might borrow the inspiration. Of course, it will be so far into the future that I'll forget where I got the inspiration from, so I guess I should say thank you now, eh?

I like the red chains extending out to the sides--very effective and doesn't stop the eye from moving around to all the embroideries. Congrats on your progress!
I'm glad that I'm not the only one to have difficulty photographing redwork quilts! Yours is great! I stitched some of the blocks to make a quilt that was donated to my guild's little quilt auction fundraiser. I've collected quite a variety of white with red and red with white fabric, then a couple of years ago began adding red, white and black fabric for some variety. I make a redwork quilt every year or so.....
