Happy International Bacon Day!

Do you know what today is?
Here's a photo clue...
Besides being Scrappy Saturday, it's international bacon day! Yes I know bacon is a terrible food and it's really unhealthy, and we shouldn't eat it. But we do because it's just so darn delicious! We usually save this as a treat to enjoy when we're camping, but today is a special day set aside for bacon lovers, so we're having it!

When not eating bacon, I've been busy organizing some orange fabrics to work with for orange month over at the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. I sewed another Circle of Squares (pattern here) block using some reddish orange scraps. I found that perfect background fabric in the stash.

I added this to the growing collection of blocks and here they are on the design wall. 12 blocks without sashing makes a rather small lap quilt, so I'm going to keep going with this one and make 8 more blocks. Looks like I'm missing some colours... dark green, navy blue, gold, and brown to name a few. To see more scrappy projects, hop over to the weekly RSC link up.

How did I not know about this day?!?
Like you, we usually only have bacon when we camp, or on Christmas morning. But I may need to celebrate today in style.
These Circle of Squares blocks always make me happy. You find the best Rainbow Scrap Challenge projects!

How nice that it is bacon day. I just put some pork belly in the oven to finish rendering the fat so I can fry some later today. My husband smoked the meat earlier this summer and flavored it with maple. It's been in the freezer. I'm going to have a hard time waiting till I can eat it. I love this block. It is so simple but so pleasing to the eye.

Nice, nice & nice your circle of square blocks. I heard someone say that bacon is the thing that vegetarians miss the most, I can believe that.

Oh, I love your circle square circle blocks!
And since we raise and sell pork, we have many freezers full. One of those freezers is designated the bacon freezer. I feel sorry for people who don't have a bacon freezer...

I did have some bacon this morning when we ate at a favorite breakfast place. I wished it was crispier, but it tasted nice and salty. Love your blocks and am with you on the make more blocks/no sashing train!

I really, really like your block. It would be a great one for scraps. Did you find it somewhere or make it up. If so would you share. Looks like a simple one. What is the size of the units? Thanks ever so much, Kathy.
