Slow Sunday Stitching

We are in the midst of the lazy hazy days of summer here. It is too hot to go outside midday, and some nights it is too hot to sleep without air conditioning.  The weather forces us to move more slowly and to take life at a slower pace. It is also too hot to do any hand quilting under a big heavy quilt, so small stitching projects are the order of the day.
I have been putting in some stitches on my next Life is Beautiful block but mostly I have been working on an old treasure that I excavated this week when cleaning a closet.
I found a half finished baby sweater! This is a great old knitting pattern called "Leaf and Lace" and in my pre-quilting life I made it many times for baby gifts. You can read more about this pattern here
I was happy to find this treasure and motivated to finish it. I have spent a lot of time this week locating the mistake that resulted in it's exile, pulling out stitches, and trying to figure out how to resume the pattern. It's a really nice change of pace for me and I remember now how much I enjoyed knitting before quilting took me over.
There are so many interesting things to learn in life and so little time to fully pursue them all!
What are you working on today? Remember that we only want to see your hand stitching ... there are lots of other link ups in blogland for machine made projects and the weekly Slow Sunday Stitching link up is for hand stitching only.

What a pretty baby pattern. Its warm here in the UK too but probably not as hot as you get it!

It's hot here, but ocean breezes make it comfortable, at least for me! I live for these days! You'd think if we slowed down, so would time. But I tried it, and the days and weeks still pass at warp speed!

Enjoy your knitting. Sometimes returning to an old favorite is a nice change of pace. It has been extremely hot here also so I am very thankful for my central AC. It allows me to work on anything my heart desires. Thanks for sponsoring the link-up.

I came across a half knitted pair of socks this week. Wondered what ever happened cuz I used to do them all the time. Then I realized that I mostly knitted socks as a hockey mom, and those days are gone. Would love to get back at it.

I throw in a knitted or crochet dish cloth... just to change things up a bit. What a sweet sweater.

Isn't it fun to find WIPS somewhere and get interested in them all over again? It's hot in Ohio too.

I had a sweater like that when I was a baby and my Daughter had one too. I don't know how to knit but would like to learn someday. I have a couple of friends who said they will teach me how. Have fun knitting today!

it is hot here every day but last night we had a drop in temperature - the rain missed us but it cooled off to 75 - sitting on the porch was so nice. Then this morning I woke up to see it had rained 1 inch in the night and it was 70 this AM - would be so nice if not for the humidity - lucky my hand quilting is on a 3 roller so it doesn't sit on me.

it is cold here, and I am ready for Spring. It is really a treasure, good you saved it form the UFO closet, so precious. Happy Slow Sunday stitching!

How sweet!!! That is exactly what knitting does for me - a totally different kind of craft that is soothing and relaxing and helps me step back from the mania of my quilting life :*). Of course, it's my own fault that my quilting life is nuts LOL!!!

And who will you be giving the jumper to?! It looks really beautiful, so hopefully someone special :) No worries about sitting under a quilt here I'm sad to say, nice and sunny but there's a cold breeze today - great for some slow stitching in a sheltered spot :) Have a lovely afternoon Kathy c

I tried crochet, but, I can't get the hang of it. Two needles would just do me in. Hope you figure out where you messed up, so you can get started on it again. I used to love to hand quilt in the summer. I use a frame with legs, so, the quilt doesn't touch me, and, I can put a fan under the quilt, too. Nice way to stay cool.
