I had a big finish this week of my hand quilted (big stitch) block sampler! The texture of the big stitch quilting is wonderfully soft, and I am looking around to see which quilt top wants to be my next big stitch project.
Julie is hosting a Binding Blitz party over on her blog, so if you have finished a quilt binding in January, hop over to Julie's and add your link. It's a great party with prizes! You can see her new button on the right side of my blog.
Today I will mostly be sewing the new Super Bowl mystery quilt over at Quiltbug. I have some friends coming over to celebrate Super Bowl Sunday in a quilty way... so fun!
But first, I will get in some early morning hand stitching on a project I am trying to finish up from last summer - Always Home . It's coming along and I really like this wallhanging, but it was put aside when I started quilting the sampler quilt. Now it's back out and I am picking up where I left off, back to small needles and tiny stitches. I wonder how that will feel after all the big stitching I've been doing?
What are you sewing by hand today? Link up your blog post below and share your project with us.

I love that big stitch sampler. What a great variety of blocks. I hope you can easily adjust to the small stitches of Almost Home. I am looking forward to watching your stitching progress.
A quilty Super Bowl party is the very best kind; have fun! I love your projects... both big and little stitches... ;)
I like your way of celebrating Super Bowl Sunday!
Congratulations on your big stitchy finish. It looks fabulous. Always Home is looking good! It will certainly feel different after the other project! A quilty Superbowl party is a great idea.
Yay for you and thank you for the heads up -- I had a surprise finish myself -- headed over to Julie's to link on up!! :)
Congrats on the finish and so happy to see almost home back in play. My 'small' stitches are so big compared to others but I am working on getting them more even and small. We all have to start somewhere. Enjoy your day... I'm waiting to see if I have to work or not but I'll get some stitching in tonight on my hugs and kisses.
Nice homespun project! Sounds like a perfect way to spend Super Bowl Sunday! We need to get together to sew again soon.
Congrats on the beautiful finish! :) not linking up today but still visiting! :)
Congratulations on a great finish! I like Almost Home and it will be interesting to hear how you find the return to small stitches.
Awesome finished quilt Kathy, congratulations!
love that quilt it has personality
Great finish.
Truth be told, I'd much rather be attending a quilty Super Bowl party ... enjoy yours.
Love the finished quilt and enjoy completing the next. I will be chaining little pieces today instead of the mystery.
Love your Always Home. I have done two now with the big stitching and love it, my stitches are quite organic and not all the same size.
Enjoy your sewing time. I'll be shoveling snow, several times today. I'd rather be stitching.
Love your project 'always home' - the colors are great, so homey. Looks like it was fun to make. So have you had good luck with the pigma markers? Are they really permanent? Have a great day!
That homespun quilt is going to be so sweet with the hand stitching--love it!
Hooray! Congrats on your big finish!
Congrats on the gorgeous finish! Enjoy your Superbowl stitching.
Love your homespun quilt and your finish too! I love pro football so I'll be watching while UNstitching...
How wonderful to have a finish!!! I love homespuns :) I would imagine it would be a little different to switch up from large stitches to tiny ones again. It will keep you on your toes, that's for sure!!!
Enjoy your Superbowl sewing party.
Oh dear I was so busy pinning and machine quilting today that I forgot all about slow stitching. I did however get in some stitching after supper this evening. Finished a second baby quilt binding and did some more hand quilting on my dresdan plate quilt. Happy February 1st!!!
The Sampler looks great, Kathy. I am loving those colors!
Always Home is such a cozy looking thing. : )
Even through the seams your stitches are so small and even. I want to be able to quilt like that some day!
