I recently enjoyed a camping trip in Algonquin Park.
Isn't it beautiful?!?
It sure was strange to have great "summer" weather in September!
I tried something new this year and now I can cross this off my 'bucket list' - kayaking. It was a steep learning curve, which thankfully did not result in me taking a swim! It was absolutely amazing!
Here I am wearing my "Miss Daisy" sun hat, and leisurely paddling through the lily pads, admiring the landscape, and enjoying the wonderful feeling of total relaxation.
It's amazing how easy it is to forget how it really feels to relax. I realized that even when I am slow stitching, I sometimes have myself totally stressed out by the thoughts I chose to focus on.
Not today.
Today I am going to pick up my needle and thread, and remember what I felt like when I was kayaking, and I am going to focus on total relaxation while I applique some orange pumpkin seeds.
This little needle threader eliminates some of the stress of threading needles for old eyes :)
Can you join me in some relaxing sewing today?

Such a beautiful location to try something new. Being by or on the water can be very relaxing. Just curious. Do you finger press your seeds in preparation for applique?
So you took the plunge :) What beautiful scenery there! :)
What fun ... certainly a pleasant view as you were kayaking. There's a lot of kayaking here in Hilton Head ... I'd like to try it some day.
Beautiful photos - it does look peaceful! What fun to learn to kayak and not get dunked!!
What a beautiful place to learn to kayak. It is always nice to try new things. Enjoy your stitching. I need to find that needle threader. I have never seen one like that and could really use it.
I love kayaking! Looks like you had a perfect spot for your first paddle! Yummy seeds too,
What a beautiful spot for kayaking. So glad you got to try something new. Enjoy your pumpkin seeds today, hopefully they will give you a reason to sit and enjoy.
Oh, how I miss kayaking like that! So relaxing. Enjoy your pumpkin seeds today and thanks for the link in the last post. I see more seeds in my future.
I love kayaking, and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. What a beautiful spot!
Such a beautiful place. Great job on the kayaking.
give me a couple more weeks and I will be back to sewing and joining in - our trip is almost over. I haven't picked up a needle in five or days so this time and while on our final major stop I doubt I will while visiting family
What a stunning place and great pictures! Thanks Kathy for sharing and for the party!
Love the pictures of you kayaking Kathy! My daughter did that once on a date and LOVED it. Unfortunately, she didn't love the guy quite as much as the kayaking LOL!!! But I remember her saying she had never been so relaxed in her life. I think it is a memory she will carry fondly forever :)
Yes, that location is beautiful and your pictures are wonderful! Thanks for sharing them.
Beautiful scenery and not getting wet was a bonus I bet!! Keep checking those things off your bucket list..way to go!
Good for you! Looked like a lot of fun.
And I was wondering about that needle threader. Now that I know someone who actually uses it I might have to get one. It's becoming increasingly more difficult to get that job done!
Enjoy your slow day - no sewing of any kind here today - need to straighten things up from yesterday.
What beautiful photos of Algonquin Park Kathy. It does look relaxing! I hope you manage to quiet your thoughts today. It's often hard for me as well.
un paseo espectacular, gracias por permitir compartir costuritas en domingo...me paso por los blog de las compañeras de domingo
What beautiful scenery at your camp.
So totally agree - I think we have all forgotten how to relax. The world is such a rush & a stress these days.
Your kayaking adventure pictures are spectacular! I am glad you found it relaxing, I would be too stressed about falling in!
Getting out into a natural setting and hearing water is always so relaxing. The gentle repetitive movement of dipping the paddles into the water just calms the mind and heals the spirit. Dipping the needle into the fabric should hopefully produce the same effect today. Enjoy!
Wow what a great time you must be having. Yes Relax. Cute orange peels. I did some Hexagons last month while looking out at the beach on the West coast. Great times.
Wow what a great view. So nice to be able to relax and enjoy the view. Cute orange peels.
Looks like a wonderful experience. I love canoeing, but I have never tried kayaking. Is it hard to stay balanced?
I can always tell the difference when I totally, completely relax as I hand quilt. Amazing how stressed we can allow ourselves to get.:)
Wow, gorgeous scenery! It would be hard not to relax and enjoy all that beauty.
Kayaking is great fun and relaxing if you don't get too enthusiastic and get too far from where you need to get back on dry land! The hardest part for me is getting in and out of the boat!
