I have made progress on my QPOM scrappy rail fence blocks and here they are on the design wall today. There are 34 of the 63 blocks needed, so the blocks are more than half finished.
I don't like that purple block blob on the bottom row, so I'll dissect and reconstruct that one. I think it needs more dark purple and more black.
I must admit to feeling very self righteous as I am sewing these blocks, because they are all made from the scrap bin. Very old fabrics are being given new life and finally getting into a quilt top.

It's looking great!! The blues pop!!
What a great way to use up old scraps! :0)
Love the way this quilt is growing. Perfect use of your scrap bin!
Looking wonderful Kathy! I agree with you on the purple blog, as well as adding in some more deep purple to give it some punch :) Doesn't it feel marvelous to make something so beautiful out of basically "trash"? I love it!!!
This project is coming along nicely! Your scrap bin will soon be empty....lol!
Such a great project to use up scrappy bits - it looks great!
Okay so please tell me, when do you sleep? I can't believe you have so many blocks made already. WOW. They look good.
I agree that purple/blue one has to be changed a bit! I am not sure self righteous is the word to use....maybe thrifty is! That means it is a free quilt...right???? Happy Monday sewing!
Looking good. I don't know why but I always love the simple blocks. Going to be so pretty when you are finished.
I love that the center squares are all different colors, and that some have more than one square. Makes it so much more interesting. Love the way this is turning out.
It's ok to be choosy with your scraps. The purple one does scream a bit. Have fun with making the rest for this scrappy quilt!
It looks fabulous!! It's so much fun to watch it grow.
That looks wonderful. I agree with you on the purple one.
This is so cool! I love it--all of that scrappy goodness. Had to LOL at your "self-righteous" attitude. Been there/done that! : )
What a great scrap project . . . go right ahead and feel good about it!
It's such a great feeling to use up scraps! Great looking blocks.:)
This is looking great! I agree with you on the purple blob block. I think it needs some more contrast within the block.
Good for you to use your scraps! It's a 'free' quilt that way.
Looking good! Doesn't it feel great to use up those extra bits others would throw out? Enjoy your sewing.
Great use of the scrap bin on this one. No better way to celebrate using up the oldies than to add a little bit of new to the collection. Don't want to run out of fabric after all.
Love your Rail Fence blocks! The purple one does stand out a bit. Kayaking sure looks like fun! What a peaceful lake.
I love your scrappy rail fence quilt. I think the colors look good, including the purple one. Hope it helps to empty your scrap bin, but if you are like me, they never seem to go down very fast.
very nice I do like the purple but it does draw the eye away from the other blocks
What a great block to use up scraps. Those are "free" quilts, so it shouldn't be added to your "new" list as it uses up old stuff.
