Making a Decision

I have been so amazed at the feedback from my post on Frixion pens, and on my Temecula quilt layout! There were so many varied opinions and options to consider.  Everyone has their own expertise with previous experiences, preferences, and creative ideas. I was very thankful for all the input and helpful information, but then found myself really waffling even more on all the decisions :)
I now recognize this "waffling zone of uncertainty" as the
From: Be Brave
kiss of death for my quilting projects. I become immobilized by the fear of making a mistake, or doing it "wrong", and am so freaked out that I will turn my growing creative masterpiece into a piece of junk, that I put it in a box and hide it deep in the UFO cupboard.

Not any more!
I am going to be brave and make a decision. Any decision.
Because the votes for the Temecula quilt background were very unhelpful because they were pretty much evenly split for all the option, I went right ahead and decided to use the ever popular "Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe" decision making technique.
White is it!

I got to work sewing the inside section together and organizing the border blocks. I wish I would have made more red blocks, but that's okay. I think I will use red for the inner border and the binding, like the sample quilt
Breathe. Sew.
I'm not building a nuclear bomb... just a quilt!!

No matter what it is your quilt and your decision. If you make the choice you will be happy.
Well done on moving ahead

Hi Kathy

Love the decision you made! I decided that this year I was going to make more projects without patterns...more liberated quilting projects. I want to push myself to try new things... I think you found the magic with your little quilt,

Yay! Congratulations on your breakthrough! I often suffer from analysis paralysis, too. Another good mantra is 'Just Do It!'

Congratulations! You did it! No more waffling "just do it". I guess Nike has it right (That is the motto for Nike I think - one of the sports companies at any rate.) Very insightful musing and as always a good decision.

Did I miss the vote on background fabric, or is my mind just fading faster than I realize?
Anyhow--looks wonderful, and you have a very effective selection process! : )

The only way to grow, both as a person and as a quilter, is to work outside our comfort zone. That's one of the many things friends, both in person and on blogs, are for.... encouraging us to get out of our comfort zones.

Love how it is coming along! Of course, I voted for white, so .... LOL!!! Red will be perfect for the inner border and binding :)

Wise advice! I'm confident that whatever you've chosen, it will be simply beautiful. It's certainly looking fantastic so far, and the additional pop of red sounds perfect!

WHHHHHHAAAAT? You make a piece of junk?!! No way! Even if you try! I mean, yep sometimes the quilt doesn't come out EXACTLY the way we meant it to be, but we still love it and someone adopts it as favorite (if not the maker herself!). I made one for my son a long time ago and I think it is the worst one that I have made (still) and he loves it ... to pieces. Literally!! LOL. But I digress. Your quilt is a cutie so far and can't wait to see it done. So please don't hide it in a closet.

Wow girl! You nailed it!!! That paralyzing fear of "messing it up"..... truly, you've diagnosed MY problem, too!
So proud of you. And thank you for giving me the prescription as well ;)

It worked! That looks super!

The white blocks make your pieced blocks stand out so much better. Red for an Inner border sounds like a good choice too. Sorry to make you waffle. I like the hearts in the border too.

As if you could go wrong!!! It looks good so far and when it is finished, it will be fabulous!!!

It looks great. The EMMM technique is a very powerful one. It's hard to go really wrong with a quilt, you just end up with a different version.
