Design Wall Monday #12

You won't believe what I forced myself to do!
Borders! The part of quilting I like the least.
This is Judy's Quilt For An Hour project called "Freeze Frame".
I finished up until the little boxes border in October, but then I lost interest in the other 4 borders and it started drifting towards the UFO closet. It was rescued from that pile when the outside border fabric arrived that I had ordered from Back Door Quilts. I am very happy with how it turned out and look forward to quilting it, which is one of my favorite parts of making a quilt. If you have any suggestions for the quilting design, please send me your ideas.
But first I must decide whether to buy a large backing or piece my backing from the leftover scraps. Wonder which way I'll go on that?!?
If you would like to see the design walls of other quilters, go to the listing on Judy's blog - click here.
Happy Spring!
The weather here has been terrific...sunny and warm with record breaking temperatures for March. And the robins are back in town! I spotted this little guy singing his heart out in the tree in my front yard. Last year my robin post was March 30th, so spring has indeed come earlier this year! You can see that the buds aren't even out yet on the branches.

I so understand, Kathy--borders are not my favorite part either. But it looks great! Glad spring is making its way into your area. Friday we had 70 degrees and this morning we woke up to snow flurries. *sigh* March! Happy Monday! :)

That top turned out very well. I've got a half dozen quilt tops that only need borders added. You can do some of mine... :-)

I love it! and can't wait to see what you decide for the back, I'm guessing you will piece it with the leftovers. hmmm, now I wonder!! Love the robins and was so happy to see them here also.

Leader/enders--you will be hooked when you see how fast you have that second project ready to make into a top.

Love it! I've to put the borders on mine too. It is perhaps time to pull it out of the UFO pile. You've inspired me! :)

How nice that you have one of Judy L's designs on your wall today! I spent my Nat'l Quilting Day doing Borders too...from her Book. No more Boring Blob of Borders.

I like your color choices for this quilt. It is very graphic looking with the different size squares.

I LOVE the colors you used on this quilt and can't wait to see it quilted!

LOVE IT LOVE IT! I've been eyeing up that pattern as well---I MAY just have to get my little tushie going with some WIPs so I can start it!
As for the quilting---if it were on my machine, I see a simple meander/stipple. Maybe thread in that light/cream color.

I have yet to see my first robin, but some of my students admitted to seeing some this weekend! :0)

Love the browns on your quilt. It looks great. For the quilting something circular, maybe Baptist fan. Have a great time quilting it.

I think it would be great to use Judy's signature curvy square that she pust on many of her quilts! Nice work.

It looks really good -- I also like the colors you chose. I love Judy's quilts but she sure doesn't make it easy on those of us who don't like borders!

I love your 'Freeze Frame' quilt, it's amazing how many different gorgeous patterns can be made from squares. I hope my Paintbox quilt comes out as well.
You got a much better picture of the robin than I was able to.
