Slow Sunday Stitching

Welcome to the weekly hand stitching party! You don't have to stand 6 feet apart, or sanitize your hands, or wear a mask... you can sit at home and enjoy the company of hand stitchers around the world!

This has been a week full of bindings for me. I have been finishing 3 quilt bindings and am loving every stitch! The first one finished was my green March placemat that I posted yesterday.

Here is a photo in which I am actually stitching outside in the sun in March! It was warm enough to wear a jacket and sit outdoors... I was delighted to soak up the sun and put the finishing touches on my March UFO.

I finished the hand quilting on this little lap quilt (started in October last year). It's so soft and puffy with the wool batting. It really was a delight to hand quilt and the texture makes me want to keep touching it... is that weird?!?

This is a 27" square lap quilt for a nursing home and the flannel backing will hopefully keep the quilt from slipping off the lap. And it's so pretty with the soft colours of the scraps from my friend Gillian.

Can you believe it's the last link up in March? This month went by faster (for me) than January or February. I'm sure it's because the weather has warmed up enough on some days to allow us to be outside and enjoy some outdoor visits with family and friends that we haven't seen yet this year.

Please link up your blog below and your hand stitched projects with us.

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

I don't think touching a hand quilted quilt over and over is weird at all. I love the lovely tactile softness and puffiness of a hand quilted quilt. The quilt is lovely and would be even more cosy with a flannel backing. How lovely there is lots of sunshine in which to sit and happily bind your day away.

I love running my hand across a quilt to feel the texture created by the quilting. Such a pretty Little lap quilt!

Lovely to be able to sit outside and enjoy the warm rays! Quilts are so tactile, I guess that's one of the reasons we love them so much! Someone is going to be very happy with your lap quilt it has a lovely soothing colour palette. Enjoy your day.

I love the feel of a hand quilted quilt. It is nice to stitch outside after being in the house a lot over the winter.

The softness of a hand quilted quilt is exactly what has made me want to do more of it! I completely understand why you want to pet yours, Kathy. That will be a sweet gift to someone in a nursing home who will probably want to spend a lot of time feeling its softness.

Being a quilter and enjoying the tactile experience of working with fabric, the textures and quilting makes us very aware and hands on. It is funny how sometimes, we feel the need to just want to touch one piece of fabric more than others? Your projects getting the binding on, is a celebration of the fruits of all the creativity.
Best therapy we could wish for, with a healthy dose of sunshine!

I don't think touching a quilt over and over is weird at all, I do it all the time. The backing for my sampler quilt for FMQ has a really soft feel and I love how it feels. Your projects are lovely, and how nice to be able to sit outdoors! Happy stitching!

How wonderful to be able to sit out in the sun and do a little binding. Hopefully it will be warm enough soon, where a jacket is not required. Thank you for hosting the link party and have a lovely week.

Hi Kathy, what a lovely lap quilt. Love the colours and the puffiness. There is nothing like seeing and touching a quilt. That's what we quilt lovers do :-)
Have a great week and take care.

What lovely finishes. Wish I could fondle the flannel quilt, it looks so soft and warm.

You seem to have the same situation I did a couple of weeks ago - a raft of finishes all at one time!

I love running my fingers over a hand quilted quilt too. It's a really simple thing we do which gives us so much joy :)
