I love Best Press Spray and use it often, especially on small blocks with many pieces. I like how it makes blocks lay flat and look crisp, and yet it doesn't leave any white starchy residue on the fabric.
I bought the new product with a lavender and thyme scent, which has a "wrinkle releaser" (whatever that is!) I was surprised to find that I do not like it! The scent is so strong that one spritz on the fabric being ironed makes the whole sewing room smell. I much prefer the regular lavender scented spray, which is soft and understated. I think I will add just a few drops of the new spray into a bottle of unscented Best Press so I can use it up over time/thyme!

Thanks for the heads up on alternate products. With my allergies, strongly scented products play havoc with my sinuses.
I purchased some Best Press some time ago. I like the product, but when it ran out, I filled the bottle with plain water. It works just as well for me. So I guess what I'm saying is I like the bottle.
I had run out of my Best Press and happened to mention it to my sister-in-law. She had a whole gallon she wanted to get rid of, because she preferred "plain old starch". It was a win for me! When it runs out, I might try the homemade version . . .
I have not used it and thanks for the heads up on the smell as my allergies would act up too - I use plain water or a can of starch - always works for me
I have the lavender scented spray and love it.With my sewing room in the basement, sometimes my fabric gets musty smelling and the best press eliminates the odor. I find that spice scented things are very strong. Great idea to add it to your unscented spray to use it up!
Lavender and Thyme is quite a combo. Don't think I will go there. I do use Best Press when needed on my minis, but I learned early on that I need unscented. I was at a workshop and everyone around me was using a scented Best Press and it made me sick. :(
I haven't used up my Best Press supply because it left my iromong board cover badly stained. So I just use plain water when needed.
And i didn't like best Press as the scent gave me a headache immediately..I just use water...(usually from my spray iron...!) just sayin' hugs, Julierose
I use the Best Press lavender scent religiously! I discovered that you can cut it by half with distilled water, it makes a lighter scent and presses just as well. I buy it in the gallon jugs, pour half in an empty gallon jug, fill it the rest of the way with water; then add water to the Best Press jug till full, and presto, I have 2 gallon jugs of Best Press.
I use unscented also. Hubby can't be around scented stuff. No candles, perfume or scented after shave for him or me. I love that it helps get my blocks pressed into submission, lol
I tried Best Press a few years ago and started sneezing every time I used it. Gave up on the product. I know many people like it over spray starch.
I buy the unscented and dilute it 50% with water. It makes it go twice as far and works just as well. Maybe that would help with the one that is scented too strong for you.
