On the design wall today is a backing for my Plaid Beauty quilt.
Boring, I know.
I would really like to finish this quilt, and the next step was to get a backing. I have never seen a wide plaid backing fabric... do they exist??
I had to make a backing so I bought 2 meters of the dark plaid and split it in half, then filled up the center with pieces that were leftover from making the quilt top. It's big enough now, so the next step is to get the quilt basted. That's the plan for this week!

I don't think the backing is boring at all. I find it interesting.
Nope, not boring at all. I love a fun, pieced back.

Pieced backings are fun to look at! They can be time consuming, though :)
A bit of Gees Bend look to the backing. You just made it a reversible quilt! Best of luck getting this on completed. CHECK, and check off that UFO list!!
Hey, backing is on the back you know. I hate to piece backing but sometime you need to do it. I'll be piecing one this week.
I agree with the others - this is not boring at all. And I love a pieced back.
I love a pieced backing and your looks great. I think it adds a lot of interest to the quilt.
I love pieced backings if I am not the one that has to piece them. : )
I've never seen a large plaid backing, but I'm not sure if I've ever looked for one. Probably used something really boring on the backs of my plaid quilts--oh, wait. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever finished more than a wall hanging in plaids, so it wasn't an issue. I have a few plaid tops made, but not quilted.
Definitely not boring. Hope you've made good progress on getting it all basted.
I have not seen Kelly Rae ROberts work for sometime...thanks for the refresher....as I love her work too. Looks like you had the perfect shop hop day!!
