February's UFO - Plaid Beauty

Jumping to the head of the UFO queue this month is piecing the quilt top for Plaid Beauty. It has been in the works since the fall of 2010 when I took a class with Bonnie Hunter while visiting my sister in Michigan.
Yes I did!
In person!
Here's the photo proof!
It was sooooo fun!
Fun.
Fun.
FUN!
When I was sewing "Always Home", I remembered how much I enjoy working with plaids and went in search of my bag of plaid blocks. I needed to count blocks, check the pattern, figure out how many I need to make a size I want, make more blocks and re-visit the design decision, which is likely the reason why this one became a UFO (layout indecision - chronic problem).  I like all of the possible layouts.
What to do?
First things first.
There are 80 blocks sewn and parts of many more started. If I want a quilt 72" x 84", I  need 168 blocks. Okay, I'm about half way there in terms of block construction.
I'll be sewing plaids this month. Such a hardship! LOL
I am posting my goal over at A Lovely Year of Finishes February goal link up.

I made this quilt in blues. I love the plaids. You will have fun getting this flimsy done...the blocks go together quickly and soon it will be done!

I know it was a few years ago, but still jealous. Love the plaids too. Can't wait to see your "always home" in plaid!

I love plaids too, and what fun to take a class with Bonnie Hunter. I am finally getting my version of Bonnie's Floribunda quilted. She is so inspiring!

How fun to have been to a Bonnie workshop! I have made 3 of her patterns all in plaids.
Your blocks look great. Plaids just warm my heart!

Wonderful picture!! She always looks so bright and sunny in her pictures, and like she is just spilling energy. I think one of the hardest things about finishing UFO's, is trying to figure out just where they were left off, and what needs to be done, especially since I hardly ever make notes on them, since they are always going to get worked on all at once and finished, and never turn into UFO's. LOL

Layout decision often holds me up, too, and then it can be hard for me to get back on track. Great picture of you, Bonnie and your plaid beauties.

Lucky you. I would love to be able to take a class from Bonnie. And I'd love to have some plaids in my stash.

I took a class with Bonnie when she came to my guild in May 2012. I've never touched that project again. I need to pull it out.

I took a class with Bonnie in November 2012 when she came to the GAAQG in Ann Arbor Michigan...it's still a UFO. I love the plaids! I'll be moving back to Ontario sometime in the fall of 2014...not sure where we will end up. We want to sell in Michigan first and then start to look...somewhere close to the Kitchener-Waterloo area. Happy stitching, Pauline

Girl, you are going to get so tired of me commenting! I just found you and now you will find me commenting on what new thing I have that we have in common! You are so darn lucky to have been in a class with Bonnie. She's going to be in our state in 2016, so I'm counting the days, errr, months!
