Design Wall Monday #35

I love the routine of posting what is on my design wall every Monday. Thanks to Judy at Patchwork Times for facilitating this weekly ritual. It helps to keep me focused, reminds me of my progress, and it is fun to look back at all the projects that have lived on my design wall over the years.
Today I am working on the Temecula Summer Stars Quilt Along. The blocks are 4" finished and were the perfect stress-free summer project.
I had fun auditioning layouts for this little quilt.
I auditioned the leftover backing from my UFO finish in July for a border fabric, and although I liked the fabric with these blocks, I wasn't loving the layout. Which is strange, because I liked the layout idea enough to use it for my dotty stars quilt (which I have decided to call "Dotty for Kaffe"!)
But these blocks demanded to be on pointe, so I gave in and found that I had enough fabric for the setting triangles, the backing and the binding. I made an extra block to piece into the backing for the label.
The quilt and I are now in negotiations to decide whether it will be hand quilted or machine quilted.
Grab a cup of tea and hop over to Patchwork Times to visit the other design wall postings today.

Your Temecula Summer Stars are beautiful. The one point setting with that background fabric is going to look terrific.

So pretty. Great fabrics and I love how you worked out the setting.

You showed just what I go through in trying to decide on a layout, even when I already have a plan. I just watched a video on letting your quilt speak to you, about the quilting. Well, my quilts either say nothing (hence some UFO's) or they shout just exactly what they want. Thanks for sharing part of our quilting journey.

I like the discipline of the Design Wall Monday's too. Since I've been doing my applique blocks and posting about them the Design Wall Monday is helping me get them done.

DWM is part of my routine, too! I like your Temecula stars very much.

Those cute blocks really need to be set on point. And, sharing the thought process sure helps. And, I agree with your thoughts on Design Wall Monday. If I didn't do it each Monday I would not be posting all that much anymore. So the discipline is necessary for me. Thanks for sharing,

Yup, I like DWM the best. It gets me busy on Sunday night, if I've been slack the week prior, that's for sure! LOL! Your Temecula Summer Stars are terrific -- I saved the blocks but I haven't done mine yet. I think you're right that setting them on point is perfect!! :)

Perfect setting for the T- Stars. I like the light setting fabric. Makes the stars stand out. Hand quilting this small quilt wouldn't take too long...

Your opening statement made me smile. I haven't joined DWM, but many blogs I follow do it. As I had read some this morning I had thought to myself, "I could never do DWM. My Mondays are always so crazy, I would never get anything posted without major stress." Then here you come, lovin' it. I love seeing what other bloggers post on it, so I am glad you gals love it.
You know I am all for setting those stars on point--that's is how all three of my sets of stars ended up (and yes, that is overkill). : )

I really enjoy your design wall Mondays! The stars are lovely and I love them on-point. ;-)

I like DWM too :) Your stars are really sweet. Lucky that your fabric choice leftovers were just the right thing for these little blocks. I hope the negotiations are peaceful!

I love the on point settings and the stars just sparkle!! 4 inch stars they are tiny :)

Great way to use up the leftover backing fabric into a new little sweet quilt!! The stars show more detail when on points to me, than they do when they were side to side. I also like that you added a block for the label on the back--neat idea!! If you are a quilt whisperer--I have a small stack that have not answered me yet!!

I haven't made all my star blocks yet. I like the setting shown on Temecula blog but I also like the on-point setting you are showing.

On point is a beautiful choice. How many quilts are in line asking for hand quilting?

very nice. I have my quilt layered trying to decide how to quilt it. I am going to machine quilt so I can get it done.
