Autopilot

Sometimes when your brain is on overload, and you're too tired to even do hand quilting, you just need some mindless sewing. I grabbed a bag of cut off triangles that I scooped up/rescued from the garbage at quilt retreat last year and started sewing them together. No thinking was required. My hands know how to do this task even when my brain is on autopilot.
Can you guess how many HST's were sewn in that pile?!?
You won't believe it! Leave a comment with your estimated number and the closest guess will win a prize...maybe the whole lot of unpressed, untrimmed HST's?!?
No...I wouldn't do that to you!

I love mindless sewing! My guess is 342 HST. I love other peoples scraps. Soooo much fun.

I have no clue. But I know how relaxing it can be to sew on autopilot after a big project is complete. (Or even when I need to take a break in the middle of one.)

Thanks for the "Brave" compliment.

My guess is 261, because you lost one!

I could use some mindless sewing too. I think there are 300 triangles there.

You crazy girl...my guess would be 124. I find handquilting relaxing but not for autopilot nights. Hugs

No idea--maybe 225? You need things like this on nights when the brain won't engage. If you work on something that takes thought you just end up with the seam ripper in hand. : )

No idea but my guess is 154. Glad you had some mindless fun. Will miss seeing you at the DDC this session.

My wildest guess is 204...have a wonderful day Kathy...from a south of the border follower from muggy Michigan.

Those little triangles add up. I bet there are 480 of them on that little pile. Thanks for the fun.

Wild guess of 560.

Mindless piecing is definitely relaxing--the Zen of sewing!

Hmm, that's a pretty tall pile of HSTS...I'm gonna guess 213.

Hahaha! It's fun to take a break and set your mind to figuring out a little puzzle once in a while :*) I'm going to go with 400 - a nice round number =^..^=

Wow, that's a lot of free triangles! I love scraps :) Do you have 198 in the pile there?

Gill said...

How about 285??

Karen said...

I say 140. That pile looks deceiving. :)

How about 100 even...seems impossible, but life is stranger than anything.

I'm guessing 346. The sewing is the fun part. I hate the pressing and trimming part. Hope you can find a good movie or tape to listen to while you do it.

Mindless sewing to me is strip piecing although I am getting ready to try crumb blocks. I'm going to guess 180. And, no, I don't what anymore HST's. ;-)

I venture a guess of 187.

I don't BELIEVE it! Angela (soscrappy) took my exact guess! LOL. Go figure.

So.....I'll say..... 424

What a FUN contest!

Any word yet when Brother comes back?? My heart is so sad for you :(

One hundred twenty-three? Love mindless sewing!

My guess is 187. I based this guess on nothing rational what-so-ever. Mindless is good, but do not lose track of where your fingers are in relation to the needle. For those who like to iron (I don't know anybody in this category) your pile of HSTs would be a great prize.
