There are few sights that are as heart warming (for a quilter) as seeing your nephew cuddled up in a quilt that you made, while he reads a book from Santa.
(N.B. This quilt was a free pattern offered by Judy at Patchwork Times in 2009. The design is called "Freeze Frame", but I don't see it on the free patterns page right now)
And what else does a quilter love to see?
Lots of fabric cut up into small pieces and ready to sew back together into larger pieces to make a new quilt design.
As you may have guessed, I have given into the excitement of starting 2 new mystery projects to bring in the new year (to see the links - click here). I plan to end 2011 by sewing, and then start 2012 with more sewing...that is as exciting as my life gets!

Looks your quilt found a good home.
Have fun with your end of year 2011 and beginning of the year 2012 mysteries.
That is a very good-looking guy quilt.
Your bags of already cut soft colors look really good together, too. It will be interesting to watch the progress of what they become.
Happy New Year, Kathy!
Sounds like heaven!!! I'm planning the same - jumping into 2012 doing as much quilting as I can. Enjoy your New Year, and I'll look forward to seeing your posts about your quilting adventures!
Heart warming is right! Great photo.
Have a great time with your mysteries--it appears you are ready and raring to go :)
So fun to see your quilts being loved and used. Enjoy your New Years mysteries!
Great quilt, Kathy! Have fun with your new mysteries and Happy New Year!
definitely both wonderful sights.
I call it old folks fun... going for a ride to see the buffalo, picking up acorns on a walk, sewing out the old year and in the new... fits right in. Happy New Year Kathy.
Hugs~
Love this square quilt pattern Kathy. What is it and where can I get it? Have a very Happy New Year. Looking forward to taking another class in the spring. Have also signed up for the Craftsy Block a Month course so that should be fun. Hugs to you and yours.
Yes, seeing the quilts we make being used is a great sight. Have fun with your Mysteries. I'm ready to cut up my jelly roll for the Planet Patchwork Mystery.
Indeed it is wonderful to see someone snuggled up in a quilt you made, it suits him very well!!!!
All the very best in sewing for 2012!!
I agree, the best thing about giving away a quilt is seeing it loved and in use. Looks like your nephew is appreciating his.
I love that picture! I think your plan for ending the old year and beginning the new year sounds pretty darn good.
What a shame the pattern for Freeze Frame is no longer available. It looks like a winner to me :-)
