Crumbing Along

What a fun scrap project this has turned out to be!
Some of these blocks I showed last week, but since then I have added a new heart block,  a new 9 patch block, two more 4 patch blocks and a cute 4 patch star block.
I was starting to worry about how frenetic the whole project was appearing, and I was also starting to fuss about my lack of a plan (as in I have included all colours and nothing is co-ordinated). Angela reminded me that this project could be all about the process if I wanted it to be...and I do! But sometimes I need to be reminded to have fun and stop worrying about the end result! Thanks Angela!

And in this week's crumb post, Jo has focused on the amazing versatility of the triangle. I have made 4 blocks so far, including a couple of bows, a shoo fly, and a broken dishes block. I have no idea why they are mostly in blues, but I can tell you that it was the most relaxing sewing I have done in a long time, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Kathy, these are beautiful blocks! I think they are soothing to look at, not frenetic. I love them!

I love them! They are wonderful. It looks like you almost have some monochromatic groupings going on, and it is looking kind of rainbow-ish. At least that's what they all together make me think of.

If I thought you'd agree, I'd offer to trade crumb bins! Don't worry, I won't put you on the spot like that.

What beautiful blocks you are making. I love the overall blended look of your blocks and the sweet fabrics you are working with. It is going to make a quilt that people won't believe came from scraps and crumbs.

Oh my! The batiks you are using in this quilt almost make it look as if it is not a crumb along! The blocks are just beautiful! I can't wait to see how you arrange them!

Oh my gosh - they are all beauties. I think sometimes a reminder that quilting is supposed to be joyful process not something to stress about is a wonderful thing! Relax and enjoy!!

Well, I must say, I have never used batiks in a quilt with the exception of just a few pieces in another quilt I did mixed with other fabrics. But your blocks have just about won me over. This is going to be beautiful! I'd love to make one with these fabrics....but with no scraps of this type in my stash or yardage....it would almost be like starting over. I am going to have to watch for scraps at the quilt shops in these types of fabrics. Can not wait to see the finished quilt.

I think mine is a bit random too....almost thought of sashing all the blocks. But I don't know...can not decide. I guess I will just have to wait till the end!!

have a great day!!! Happy Sewing!

WOW...I continue to enjoy your batiks. Triangle block and stars are my favorite...Like you I find crumbing totally relaxing. Right now I have a project that I am trying to power sew through...ugh. I miss crumbs.

Whatever the end result, the blocks are as fun to look at as they are to sew.

These blended colors are so successful, what a soft and interesting result ! You entice me to buy new batiks... to have totally new crumbs !

Frenetic it is not. It's a wonderful blast and conglomeration of colors but they appear blended, not frenetic.
You have a wonderful way with crumbs. Oops -- that doesn't sound very complimentary, but it IS intended to be a compliment. :)

Cathy, it looks great! I like the four patch star too and the colors are divine and the blues are fine once they are mixed in with the rest. I really like that there are both soothing cool colors as well as those spicy hot ones. There is something about batiks that really expresses those color temperatures. As far as the frenetic look... Of course it is, that is the charm of this project!
