Slow Sunday Stitching

Welcome to the weekly hand stitching party!

Get out your needles and thread, and join hand stitchers around the world who are benefitting from the process of creating something with our own hands.

I am definitely benefitting from my hand stitching this week. Just sitting quietly, project in hand, needle in and out, and breathing. I have been working on my full coverage stitching which I started in March. This is a Heaven and Earth Designs chart called Mini Treasure Hunt Bookshelf with the artwork by Aimee Stewart. The pattern is on sale for $6 if you can believe it!

This is such an interesting process for me. Full coverage is a deep dive into mindfulness - finding the next stitch, putting the needle up and down into the 25 count lugana, rethreading the needle, finding the next colour to work on... nothing else enters my mind. And before you know it, hours have passed.

Not much progress seems to have been made. I have put 3,221 stitches into this project so far which is 4.22% of the total number of stitches according to the Pattern Keeper APP.  I know that this project will take me years to finish and I hope I live long enough to see it through to completion. But if I don't, that's still okay - I will have enjoyed the process of taking every single stitch!

Do you have long term hand stitching projects that will take you years to complete? Or projects that will never be finished? Please share your slow progress with us and link up your blog post below.

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

Wow…you’ve got lots more done in this picture since the last time I saw it. This is definitely a long term project! Happy stitching!

That is such a neat design, Kathy! I love the colors in it. I have not done a full coverage project yet - it probably would take me years! Enjoy every stitch!

You are working with such pretty colors. I have several long term projects. Maybe I'll make a bit of progress on mine tonight.

Enjoying the process is the best! We need more joy in this world!

Wow, three thousand plus stitches in and less than 5% complete?! That’s a doozy of a project, Kathy! But the color play is just marvelous; I can understand how you lose time stitching on it! Have a great week ahead! :)

Hi Kathy, this is a beautiful design and you are doing great with it. Full coverage is a challenge for me but I'm thinking with only one strand stitching which I'm trying out now, I might be happier with it.
It is a lovely way to slow down things isn't it.

You are making good progress on the piece. I looked it up and it will be beautiful. I am working on an Artecy full coverage piece that I show on my blog every 3 weeks. It is my second full coverage cross-stitch and I have one more that I would like to someday complete also. Enjoy your peaceful stitching.

Hi Kathy, what a gorgeous project. It's great to have a project where it really is about the process! That would be my "Almost Daily Stitching" project, if I was actually stitching it! Thanks for the party.

You are making such great progress! I have a counted cross stitch I started.... gosh, before kids I think! 17 or 18 years ago. The boo boo had me put it aside and now I'm noticing the eyes are not what they used to be. I'm going to get it finished though... someday!
