Slow Sunday Stitching

Welcome to the last hand stitching party of 2024!

It's the week between Christmas and New Year, which is always a bit disorienting for me. There has been a lot of cooking, tidying, visiting, and eating delicious food. I'm ready for a vacation to recover from the holiday!

I didn't do much stitching this week and mostly focused on trying to finish the Nordic Christmas Countdown project. I have quite a bit still to stitch in the next couple of days and intend (hope?!?!) to have it finished before the year ends. The bottom is more filled in today than it looks in this photo.

I have made a couple of changes as I went along.

One change I made was to switch out the pink on the left half star, with a softer light green. I like it much better as I thought there was too much pink on the bottom. I still need to add 2 reindeer, finish the birds and stitch something under the crowns (either my initials or hearts). I am very proud of keeping up with this stitch along in such a busy month.

On New Year's Eve I am planning to participate in the "12 by 12", where you work on 12 different projects for one hour throughout the day (to read more about 2023's event click here). And on New Year's Day I will start a mystery quilt sew along with Scrapdash called Pretty in Paisley. So it will be a busy few days coming up!

Did you get some quiet stitching time over Christmas? Do you have plans for stitching on New Year's Eve or Day? Link up your blog post below and share your progress with us.

The Christmas holidays are exhausting, aren't they. I'm still exhausted here. Your two stitch alongs sound fun. Enjoy all your stitching on New Year's Day, Kathy. Happy New to you and yours.

I've had the same very disoriented feeling this week, Kathy - what day is it, lol?! Your Nordic Christmas stitch is beautiful. Have a fun New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, too!

It is hard to stitch during the holiday, but it looks like you managed to get some done. You are going to have a very busy New Year's!

Your Nordic cross stitch is very pretty. I agree with your decision to change the colour in that bottom border. The pink in the star is a bit attention seeking! Sounds like you have a busy week of sewing and stitching planned. Enjoy every stitch! I don’t know what day it is either!!! Gail at the cozy quilter.

It is like the calm between two storms isn't it? Christmas and all that entails, followed by taking it all down for New Year's Eve and Day. Whew!! Somehow having the two holidays on Wednesdays this year seemed to give us more time between, I supposed because there was a weekend in there with nothing on the schedule. Happy New Year, and have fun sewing.

You are ambitious! I don't get much stitching done over the holidays.

I have been exhausted too, and it has been a nice couple of days to rest up a bit. Your cross stitch is lovely. Mostly what I got done was my granddaughter's poncho, and other granddaughter's artist pouch. Happy stitching!

My days have been thrown off by Christmas in the middle of the week too. I have to ask myself what day it is. LOL. Your cross stitch is looking fabulous- what a lovely change you made in the floss colors. You are moving right along. Have a wonderful day. Happy stitching.Hugs P. S. I also want to thank you , Kathy for all that you do throughout the year. Your blog, link parties and videos bring so much joy and inspiration. Your hard work shines through and is appreciated. Hugs.

I've always admired your dedication to slow stitching. I need to re-join the Sunday group - although I do my stitch project on Monday right now. Hexies have been my go to lately and I have 4 prpojects that are at the assembly stage.

Had to laugh twice: first for the cartoon as I am so there trying to finish up stuff before the ball drops. Second for your mug: I've been using my Bonnie mug waiting to gear up on quilting a past mystery top as I download the instructions for the current one. Haven't gotten to the quilting yet but enjoyed the tea in the mug in the meantime, LOL! Have a safe and Happy New Year!

Hi Kathy, that 12x12 sounds great, especially if you're also working on older projects. I do have three hand-stitching projects that I'd like to move along so I may concentrate on those three, or include some machine work also. Thanks for the suggestion and the linking party. Have a happy New Year!
