Scrappy Saturday - Orange

It's orange month for the Rainbow Scrap Challengers. Orange is a happy colour, but not a colour I have worked with often. And it's definitely not a colour I buy when I am at a quilt shop.
So it's always a surprise to discover just how many orange scraps I seem to have accumulated when I don't actually buy orange yardage! How does it actually get into my sewing room?!?
It's a mystery!

Here are the orange Alamo Star blocks that were finished this week as leader/ender pieces. I have been adding to my collection for about 3 years now and have over 250 blocks sewn. However, since the blocks only finish at 2.25" I need a bazillion of them to make a quilt. I am not in a rush :)

To see more orange scrap blocks, and to visit our famous leader and teacher extraordinaire, hop over to SoScrappy.

You have some lovely orange batiks there.
I have the opposite problem--I buy orange whenever I can, and I never seem to have enough. : )

I didn't realize how much fun orange could be until I made my scrappy rainbow star blocks and got to orange. Now I pick up the random orange fat quarter.

Pretty, and amazing. I forget how small they are until you mention it ...

I love the oranges and golds of fall, so your Alamo blocks look perfectly lovely. So tiny though, makes it worth saving all those bits and pieces left over from other projects.

Love these tiny stars and you enjoy the journey with them no matter how long they take.

Now what would fall be like without orange? And what would our quilts be like without that little punch of warm colour? Yellow it too hot and red can at times be too dark but orange is always right for warmth. Love the Alamo stars. Great orange batik collection.

Very pretty oranges. I know what you mean about the orange scraps. I have to remind myself to include that color when I'm trolling for miscellaneous fat quarters to add to my collection.

I don't have too many oranges in my stash / scraps either. I just had to purchase some fat quarters to make a block for another sew along.

Your stars a cute and I am amazed at how small they are. I struggle with small!

I was surprised at how much orange I had, too! I guess I've made a couple of small Autumn projects with falling leaves and pumpkins. I like orange, but a little goes a long way. Great job on your blocks!

I forget how tiny your stars are...but the orange tells the story. And I love the bulls eye star.

It's so much fun to see all your batik scraps! I might have to add some more orange batik to the stash - so I have some scraps!

I always love your little stars. So tiny and so perfect.
I've gone from zero to ORANGE! in less than a year... Where has this fabulous color been all my life?

These are lovely! I feel the same way about orange. Always surprised when I find any in my stash.

It's not how much you have, but what you do with it. You are really persevering. Have you got any together yet? Can't wait to see more.

Oh, joy...more Alamo Stars. That will be one awesome quilt whenever you do get enough blocks. I'm not sure how orange sneaks into my house either.

Even the tiniest bits add up over a long time.

Love your star blocks. With the blocks being so small, that's going to be a great quilt.
