Slow Stitching is not just for Sunday!

There's not much to share this week from Kathy's quilt studio. The only thing I'm doing is hand quilting. I don't know if you can tell from this photo that I am running three needles across the quilt at once, so that I can get more stitches in before I have to move the hoop.

I would like to say thank you to my faithful blog readers for the wonderful messages of support sent my way. I appreciate each one of you, and hope to acknowledge all the messages I have received very soon.
The hospice has dial-up internet access, if you can imagine!?  So I can only use my computer when I am home (without losing my mind from waiting for anything to download). I will post whenever I can, and show off my new applique project - yep, I'm bound and determined to get better at hand applique!

More hugs....
And, thanks for the great idea of running more than one needle at a time when hand quilting. I'm working on a wall hanging these days. So far, I'm working a particular design in the corners of the center motif. But I hope at some point I can do several needles at a time. I am using an air erasable pen and I have to remark just what I think I can quilt in one sitting every time I start up. I'm happy it vanishes so easily but it's a pain to always re-mark. Sigh. And a hug to end this note. You need all of them you can get.

A great combination... classic lemonade and hand quilting! :)

I am happy that quilting serves as a comfort to you during this difficult time.

There are lots of us out here in blog land wanting to give you a hug and share in this difficult time.Glad you have some quilting to keep you sane.Keep at the applique...it is much like hand quilting...it takes hours of practice.
Note to Bonnie instead of the air erase pen, try the pounce. The chalk like stuff comes off with the touch of an iron...but doesn't brush off with your touch. This equals more quilting time!

I can't think of anything more calming and comforting to be doing right now for you. Stitch slowly and savor life and the time you have left with your brother. All the busyness of other things and other projects will be there when you get back to them. Hugs & prayers continuing for you all.

Your quilting is beautiful. I think handwork can be a good place to focus energy when in a difficult situation where we feel rather powerless.
I'm praying for peace and comfort for your family!

There is something so meditative about the effort of quilting and the slight swishing sound of the thread. You will get better at applique sooner than you think too.:) Hang in there. You will never regret the days you get to spend with your brother and family.

Stitching can be very calming when there is nothing else you can do but wait and pray. Every stitch a prayer - for peace, freedom from pain acceptance, whatever comes to your mind. Such a gift just to be there.
