Slow Sunday Stitching

Welcome to the weekly hand stitching party! It's hard to believe it's already the last link up for January, but the sooner the winter passes, the better! Thank you for your kind messages last week about the loss of my Dad. I really appreciate your thoughts and condolences.

I have been doing a bit of stitching here and there, but can't seem to focus on anything for too long at this time. Yesterday I tried my "4 thread day" idea and it has really taken hold. It's fun to pick 4 projects at random and just put in 1 thread.

Benefits:

*It keeps the energy going for long term projects that are bogged down with "this is taking forever" negative energy. Of course it's taking forever, it's a hand stitched project!

*Putting in 1 thread alleviates the guilt that comes with not working on a project you have loved. You can feel good about making a bit of progress with each thread.

*You don't have to solve any problems. Just pick an area that you know you can put a thread in, and then put the project away. Often times I find that my brain is working away quietly in the background solving a project's problem while I put in some stitches.

*It is a great feeling of accomplishment ("a stitcher's high") when you have touched 4 projects! I feel like a stitching star who deserves applause when I've made all that progress! LOL

⭐⭐⭐⭐

I also have made a lot of progress on my Vintage Angel. This is a Tiny Modernist pattern that I purchased at Jingle Ball in December and started stitching on New Year's Eve. Today I hope to finish the second wing and start her gown. This design does not call for beads, but I'm starting to think she definitely will need some added.

What are you hand stitching today? Please share your progress with us and link up your blog below!

When my dad died, I found that my stitching helped to keep me grounded. Your one thread a day on a few different projects is a good idea. Thinking of you as you remember and celebrate your dad’s life.

Love your idea of picking four stale projects and putting in one stitch. I'm sure it leads to more stitches and also helps you find missing projects. Great idea! Working through little problems definitely helps fix the bigger problems.

Sorry to hear your Dad passed away last week. I too can get bogged down by those 'long term' projects, mainly because there are so many others I want to start and just not enough hours in the day/week/year! Putting a few stitches into four projects is a good way to move it along and make you feel good too! Take care.

I love the 4 thread idea! I'll have to remember that one. The vintage angel is a sweet project - she seems like the perfect project for you right now. Thinking of you this week, Kathy - hope you have a restful day.

Your 4 thread idea is similar to how I manage my quilting projects. It does help with making progress on a lot of things. Happy stitching this week.

I have my own version of the one thread. I just try to work a little bit on 3 projects each day. I usually have more than three going on at once. Little accomplishments eventually lead to finishes. Your angel is very pretty. Enjoy your stitching. Thinking of you. Hugs.

I really like your “4 thread day” idea! Such a great way to reacquaint ourselves with long ago started projects! I love your Vintage Angel and your idea of incorporating beads into the design. Yes, I agree with Little Penguin Quilts, the perfect project for this time in your life.
You have often been on my heart this week. Big hugs to you and your loved ones.

Making steady and slow progress on a lot of projects, it can seem like none of them is moving forward quickly, but eventually something will get closer to a finish and jump to the front of the line.

Your vintage angel is a sweet one. Concentrating on anything after your dad's passing would be difficult. I hope you can find some solace in the slowness of a little hand stitching. Please take care.
