Welcome to the weekly hand stitching party! Sunday really is the highlight of my week and I thank you all for the encouragement to continue this Sunday practice for almost 13 years!
This week I have been focused on a project to give to a special person as a birthday gift, and have made great progress. This design is a pdf download from a Nova Scotia etsy shop which I first saw on a flosstube video by SewMeSarah. It has been a delightful project to stitch - a bit challenging (which I like) but not too overwhelming (which I don't like!) I am stitching on 32 count Belfast linen and I love how the linen makes the stitches look a bit lacy.
Everything was going well until I ran out of floss! It didn't say on the pattern that you need 2 skeins of floss. Thankfully I was able to get another skein, which is a "close enough" colour match that I think most people wouldn't see a difference. I am relieved I can continue and hope to have a finish soon!
It's time to dig into the March projects which will include a Woven Wreaths embroidery block, the March Square Dance cross stitch block (featuring little birds... so excited for that!) and a new quilt mystery quilt by Canuck Quilter!

How lovely your new stitching is for your friend. The border is so pretty. It does have a lacey look about it, doesn't it.
The border does have that lacy look. Glad you could find some thread that is a close match. That's one of those heart dropping minutes when you realize you don't have enough.
Your current cross-stitch project is a beauty - that will make a sweet gift! I haven't tried stitching on linen yet, but it sure does give beautiful results. Enjoy your projects today, Kathy!
Isn't it fun to order things from the other side of the world! I ordered some machine embroidery designs from Australia last week. I wish I had a hand project to share, but all I've been doing is the hand work on binding three lap quilts.
That's so bad to run out of thread when you are so close to the end. Glad you were able to find a close enough coloured skein. I have registered with Canuck Quilter for her mystery quilt. I hope I'll be able to keep up. Enjoy your slow Sunday stitching. ;^)

Thankfully you are using variegated floss so the change shouldn't be that noticeable. This is a very pretty piece. I want to thank you for hosting this linkup each week. It is so enjoyable to spend time looking at the creativity of other bloggers and it inspires me to continue to share what I am working on. Sometimes it even gives me the kick in the butt needed to actually work on a craft during the week.

It is curling championships on TSN which usually means I get lots of hand quilting done. But this year I don't have one on the poles and I also don't seem to have enough time. So I have resorted to hexies again!! Tapped trees yesterday for sap collection so that is going to take up some of my time in the near future. I will get back to blogging once that is all done! your stitching is beautiful and you have so many projects on the go...how do you keep up!?!
