Happy Labour Day Monday! It's a holiday here for many people, and I am looking forward to an extra day of relaxing and sewing!
I'm very close and have almost assembled enough lengths of the pieced scrappy outer border. I'm now looking at which layout design I prefer and am open to votes and suggestions!
Option 1 - no inner border (easy finish!)
Option 3 - solid inner border (also easy but might not have enough fabric and may need to add in a bit of something different)
Option 4 - solid inner border with flying geese to finish the look of the blocks
Which layout do you prefer?

I would like to propose Option five. Add the flying geese to finish off the on point squares from the centre of the quilt but then jus make the rest light/white like the sashing. The outer pieced border will frame that nicely. This is going to be a gorgeous quilt, Kathy.
I would go with #4 with the flying geese.
Wow, congratulations on getting to the borders! I prefer option 4 with option 1 coming in second :). Looking forward to seeing which one you decide.
I like options 3 & 4. If you don't have enough of one fabric for option 3, option 4 could use multiple strips. I like the idea of a solid strip separating the border from the center, it gives our eyes a place to rest.
I like the solid inner border. Congrats on making such good progress on Chilhowie. It's a bit scary how fast the end of the year is going. It will be time for Bonnie's next mystery before we know it.
I'll vote for #4 since the OCD in me wants those blocks to be completed, and the rest of the border is easy! Thanks for your consistent blog entries--I never miss one.

I was thinking a plain light fabric to frame the quilt before the border, but I like Cozy Quilters idea better. Good luck and happy finishing.
Sorry, Kathy, but option 1 is lacking something IMHO. I like option 2 or 4, but without the scrappy bricks. Because they aren't present in the design, they made the side of the last block distorted for me. I would do the flying geese on their own. No bricks, no colour, just the flying geese in a scrappy white border. You are so close to the finish line. Good luck with your OMG! ;^)

I like option #5 as suggested by the Cozy Quilter. Beautiful quilt. Looking forward to the finish!
I vote for #5 . I like that it completes the squares in the centre of the blocks and that it also frames them. For me #2 is very confusing and there
is nowhere for the yes to rest

I choose #4. I love when the inner border finishes the Block pattern. You're still ahead of me. I have September and October to get mine to a Flimsy.. I hope to have it in next Years Quilt Show. Take your time it's so worth it. I need to get the Quilts done to turn in next Saturday. Just one to Quilt and Bind. A One Week Goal.

I agree with Cozy Quilter. I like the option that finishes off the outer blocks with flying geese units, but I like the white instead of the red as the remainder of the outer sashing.
It's going to be lovely, whatever border you choose.
Oh wow, Kathy . Your quilt is looking amazing. It is hard for me to choose ; they all look great. I can not wait to see what you decide- just go with what makes your heart sing.
I like the option 5 as well. I've quilted two of these and had to look back to see what they'd done. I'm glad you've linked up again with OMG. I celebrate tiny steps forward myself. I think I've been setting the borders of Grassy Creek as my goal off and on for a year or so!
I like options 4 or 5 the best. I always love to read your blog, whatever you write about!
My first thought was along the lines of option 5. I think it needs to finish the grease but with the light color for the rest of the stip.
