All my brown star blocks are pieced. The quilt is called Chocolate Stars but because I'm not loving it, and am spending so much time in the garden, I find myself calling it "Dirt Stars"!
Now what to do with the setting?
On my bright version I didn't do the recommended sashing/setting, but I did make the friendship star border. However this time I really don't feel like sewing all those friendship stars again. I think I just talked myself into adding the sashing strips/ four patch setting, with maybe one or two plain borders depending on how much fabric I have left.
I read an interesting article about current trends in quilting based on the International Quilt Market - click here to read it. It's Quilt Festival in my neck of the woods and I just wish I had more time to visit the venues and see what the trends are around here - click here for the events.

Not dirt! Mocha.
I definitely see chocolate and not dirt, but your mileage may differ ;-)
Since you've already made a version with a border of friendship stars, why NOT try something different this time around. If you're REALLY hating the "dirt"--and for the record, I like it alot--you could introduce more color in sashing and borders and print those stars completely out of the garden ;-)
Remember, we do this for fun1
Chocolate Stars-sounds delish! and looks great! Have fun with the borders.
I love brown and I love these stars - if they were mine I would be tempted to use a blue sashing as the blue/ brown combo is one of my favourites. I hope you change your mind and love the finished quilt when you decide what you want to do with it xxx
I'm seeing pinks in the sashing.
Love chocolate!! Hmm makes me want some now.
I'm thinking Coffee with Cream! I agree, I would change it up a little since you already made another. :)
Throw in some rainbow ric-rac & you will have the child loving chocolate dessert called "Dirt."
I've seen brown mixed with teals in some of the recent fabric lines. Or what about a pink? Maybe trying for a brigher sashing border combination would give you the push to get it finished? Good luck! I love the blocks, but get why it's not working for you. I typically do brights too.
