Welcome to the mid September hand stitching party! Today we are relaxing with our colourful threads and yarns, and adding stitches to the beautiful creations we are bringing into to the world!
Yesterday I was visiting my sister at her cottage and did a lot of binding while watching the Blue Jays baseball game. It is challenging to stitch a black binding, onto a black Fireside backing, using black thread. But it went well and I am almost to the last side.
I also finished a block on the Spooky Night mystery cross stitch SAL by Tiny Modernist. I am way behind, but hope to stitch at least one block per week until Halloween. This week was a pumpkin, and it still needs some back stitching to bring it to life.
What are you hand stitching this week? Are you starting any Halloween or fall projects?

When I was supposed to sew the first binding on my first quilt in November/December 2024, I thought, "My God!" Now I enjoy sewing my bindings; it's like meditation, guiding the needle stitch by stitch... and you're on the home stretch... it's wonderful when a project is finished. I'm just starting a new one :-))) Cutting fabric... hand sewing comes later.
Your cross-stitch project looks great. I wish you lots of joy and a wonderful Sunday. Viola
Yikes, that would be challenging to stitch with all that black!
The Spooky Night pattern is a cute one! Fingers crossed that you can finish it by Halloween. Have a wonderful Sunday, Kathy!
My friend is doing the Halloween cross stitch too…such a fun pattern!! I can’t wait to see your finished quilts…
The Halloween cross stitch is really fun. Black thread on black fabric, definitely not easy on the eyes! Congrats on the finishes.
Congrats on the home stretch. I like doing hand binding, black on black is definitely challenging. Spooky Night is so cute.
I hope you had good lighting when doing all that black stitching! Your stitch along is looking great!
