I just love love super love all dotty fabrics, and have made many projects over the years with dots. Here are some of the little pin cushions I made a while ago with some dotty scraps, and to see my most recent dotty quilt top called Sweet Treats - click here.
For a long time, I wanted to sew Amber's Scrap Jar Stars. I first saw the blocks on Darlene's post on July 16th showing her beautiful quilt. This was the first dotty star block I sewed. Want to make a blue drink to match your blue dotty mug?!? Don't try this one...you won't like it...it's called Blue Sky. Yuck!
You can check out the other two amazing Scrap Jar Stars quilts that inspired me....Lisa Ann's and Karin's. I started collecting some bright fabrics and planned to combine my favorite Kaffe Fassett Paperweight fabrics with scrappy dots.
I pieced a few more paperweights and dotty fabrics for a fun scrappy backing. And here is my finished quilt...

I used my favorite yellow paperweight fabric for the large blocks, and the binding...yum!

What an adorable quilt! it looks really cosy. I love the pincushions as well, have recently started quilting and now I have an urgent need for more of them! definitely will make one with my leftover dots!

Scrappy, dotty and starry, what more could you want. I see a version of it in my future, soon. As for pincushions, I mostly use one I made when I first started sewing **years ago,but I need to make a small one on a wrist band, srap bag here I come.

Although I would say I love dots when I look in my (rather small!) stash I can see that I don't have many!! I shall have to remedy that!!
I'm a big lover of dotty fabrics too - been collecting them for years, but can't decide which big project to make first. Until I cut into those fabrics, I won't have scraps - bummer!!! LOVE your dotty projects :)

Kathy. Love the stars. And I recognize the KF Paperweight prints. I have a whole pile of KF fabrics and need to use them. Why are we afraid to cut into these? They look so much better in your stars than on my fabric shelf! And now I can hear them whining upstairs because they have heard about your stars and they want to become Block Stars, too! I'm in big trouble (maybe I can sew one more block using them and have them in my blog posting on Friday?)

I love this quilt! It's darling! My favorite fabric in artsy style is that paperweight fabric too! I love it in all the colors, but the brown is my fav. I like that your dotty fabric does not overwhelm the design of the star. Sometimes dots can take over if you don't mix them up correctly. You did good!
