March UFO Update

March is more than half over, but the work on my UFO of the month is not nearly half done! I am going to blame it on the glorious, unseasonably warm and sunny weather! It has just been too beautiful to be indoors this past week.
However, I have forced myself to make some progress. The borders are sewn on and the pin basting is done. I also finished preparing the binding, which was made from the largest piece of blue fabric that I had leftover from this project. I have picked out the threads I might want to use, so I should be all ready to get going.
However, the quilt and I are having an ongoing debate about what quilting design would be best. This quilt is demanding (yes, the quilt is talking to me, in a very loud, bossy tone) a "custom design" in each star block, and I just want to do a quick "allover" design and be done with it. Which of us do you think will win this power struggle...
me or the bossy quilt?!?

I'm liking what the quilt is saying, as long as I am not the one who has to do the quilting! : )

Beautiful quilt.....well if "bossy" gets started real soon then "bossy" will be the winner....if it gets to close to the end of the month - I see you winning! LOL

I think you should win over bossypants this time...certainly because then one less decision needs to be made!

That is such a lovely quilt, I sure hope it gets the custom job it deserves!

If your quilt is telling you what it wants, you'd better listen. Otherwise it will remind you every time you look at it that it got the shortcut. Of course if you give it away, then it eon't matter a bit. Is it a keeper?

Such a beautiful quilt is a Diva, and we all know about Divas don't we? They get their way!!! Perhaps your custom treatment wouldn't have to be too complicated? Choose a fairly simple motif to custom quilt the blocks and you could still finish it in good time.... maybe... perhaps.... Just listen to the Diva!!!

I'm voting custom too, maybe a curve from point to point on those larger triangles and something similar on the smaller parts? maybe a small stipple on all the white to fill it in? then the stars would pop out more if you do less quilting on those? I love to do bubbles on skinny borders and what about a large feather border on the outside?

I think the bossy quilt will win. A quilt always knows what it wants and needs! I am looking forward to seeing what designs the quilt chooses because it already looks great as it is.

All depends on how much you can put up with its sulking afterwards. If it whines at someone else's house, you don't have to listen to it! But if it lives with you, consider the long-term relationship...

Hum, the bossy quilt is askng for special treatment? Offer her the quick and get it done and then tell her the alternative is to sit unused and undone in the closet for a bit... she might change her mind! LOL Great quilt!

I would let the weather pick. If it rains this weekend and everything gets muddy and you can't play outside. Take bossy's advice. But if it's nice and the end of the month is heare, just run with a simple all over design. It was a WIP for a reason, but the quilt is just beautiful!

I've been having the same problem, weather wise. I have chosen to sit outside with a good book rather than work in the studio or the house. Today it has been raining and my excuse has been that I don't want to go out in the rain to go to the studio. No excuse for no housework. :-(
