Last November I attended a mystery class at Reichard's - click here to read about it and to see the teacher's quilt. In January the blocks were on my 3rd design wall post for 2012 and I have no idea what happened to them after that! They just evaporated into the UFO ether. Well, they finally re-emerged and are now sewn together into a quilt top.
I think what took so long is that it was quite challenging to get the layout of the blocks decided. I didn't want to have any of the tone on tone fabrics touching each other, which was tricky because one fabric can touch 7 others. Eventually I just had to say "that's long enough on the design wall" and sew it!
Here is my sister working on her mystery quilt layout. She changed a few of the colours in her version. She took out a blue, a green and the purple, and put in a pink, another yellow and a darker green. It's fun to make two quilts that are similar and yet a little different.
Now I am wondering about a border, or no border? I don't think it needs one, but I would like the quilt to be a little bit bigger. To see other design wall postings, hop over to Patchwork Times.

Very neat quilt. And, I like the color changes your sister did. I like your colors too. It is definitely interesting to see the same quilt made up in different colors. Thanks for sharing both.
I like seeing both versions. Both look great! My 2 cents worth is no border. To me it looks "finished " already. Thanks for sharing
This is a very fun design. It doesn't "need" a border to me, but if you want it bigger, could you just put a row of the TOT squares (and rectangles) around the outside without using the focus fabrics?
And just where did these blocks surface from? You did a good job on your switcheroo game and the colors look evenly dispersed and move the eye around well! How fun to share the mystery project with your sister. I like bigger quilts too so would probably add one.
Very nice quilt. Love the colors.I don't think you need to add a border unless you need it bigger.
Great quilt. Nice to see it escaped the UFO ether LOL
It emerged just in time this week. Have fun sewing on it. Depending on how much bigger you need it- just add a Blob-O Border and you can stitch feathers or something fun in it.
Congrats on reaching flimsy status with this quilt. I like the tone on tone verus print contrasts in each block.
What a nice quilt. I know what you mean about not have colors touch, it takes some time to get it just right and yours looks great. I like my quilts big so I would add a border, but if the size is right, it really doesn't need one.
Looks fantastic! Great design and I love the "solids" with the patterned fabrics..very effective.
