I'm not sure yet if this will be a Christmas Stars table topper or a tree skirt. It was a complex block to piece but I love how they turned out, and the directions are easy to follow. I've just cut out the star block pieces and looking forward to sewing those next when my sewing mojo returns.
a trillium and a tree |
In the meantime I took a tree block to the forest for an outing just for fun. The forest is my "happy place" where it is calm, quiet, and peaceful.
And look... I found a trillium! It is way passed trillium season so I was very happy to find one still in bloom!
Of course I had to take a photo of the fabric tree surrounded by real trees. This old tree stump seemed like the perfect prop.

It was a lovely outing... except for the mosquitoes. It was a wet spring, so they are out in full force this year. I swear they are the size of a hummingbird! That means you have to walk quickly so they can't catch you, but when you stop to take a photo, you get swarmed!

That's a great block!
ReplyDeleteLove your block!!! Thanks for sharing 😊.

Quilt Canada hangover? Gotta get the MoJo back, those are fun tree blocks.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun blocks! Glad you had fun at your retreat.
ReplyDeleteCute tree blocks, look great in the forest. I understand about loosing the quilting mojo when returning home after intense sewing. It will return, just relax a few days with hand work. Happy Stitching!
ReplyDeleteI'm hearing you on the bugs - they are everywhere here with having had a wetter than normal winter, then spring and now summer - I have sprayed and treated the yard to no end and ready to do it again and I do believe I might be in the house most of the summer at this rate to not get bit!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love trillium! I don't have any in my woods, but wish I did. Your tree/star blocks are great, and look so good in the woods.
ReplyDeleteCute tree block. Looks great in the woods! Not many mosquitoes yet in the garden en house, but I am sure they will come, they do each and every year!!!
ReplyDeleteI love this! I may have to make this as a Christmas quilt to display around here! You know, it would have fit in perfectly for our "Tree Inspired" challenge for my Scrap Club! LOL
ReplyDeletePretty photo's. Have you tried a little vics vapor rub on wrists, behind the ears and ankles? I hear mosquito's dislike it.....
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, those tree blocks call to me! And I love that you took one with you into the forest. Are the others jealous??
ReplyDeleteI love your little photo shoot! Your tree blocks turned out so great, such a neat block. We're starting to see swallows flying here, which means there are mosquitoes for them to eat. Time to goop on the insect repellent, sigh.
ReplyDeleteI have that book! and I love the tree! Fun quilt to make!
ReplyDeleteWelcome home, catch up with your sleep. Love the square and that you took it to where the trees were. Perfect way to display it. I too just got back in town and haven't yet adjusted to the different time zone. Travel is fun, but seems harder as we age.

Fun photo shoot--cute trees! We've had a cool spring as well, but the heat is predicted to ramp up after the solstice--just in time for fire season. GAH
