I'm tackling a big UFO quilt project for May.
I would like to finish On Ringo Lake, which is the Quiltville mystery from November 2017.
When it was last seen on my blog in July 2018, the quilt top was finished, but a mistake was spotted.
That was enough to take the wind out of my sails and put the quilt top in time out until the frustration eased!
It's time to get to work and unsew those problematic blocks and set it to right.
This is one of my favourite mystery quilts so far and I would love it to become a finished quilt.
The first step is to fix the error. It's frustrating but it won't take long, and then I can get on with purchasing a backing, pin basting, quilting and binding. I wonder if all of these steps can be finished in one month?
It's worth a try!
This must be the week of the seam ripper because Monday's blog post also features a piecing error requiring repair.
Thank you to blog reader Dorothy for sending this to me...
Rippity Doo Dah... indeed!
Linking up to One Monthly Goal.
Oh Kathy, I remember that quilt "On Ringo Lake"....I did start to pull fabrics and after looking at the colors and all the UFO's never started it. Glad you decided to finish this as it is so pretty...mistakes (can't see) and all. Good luck finishing up!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you can get that little bit taken out and resewn in a jiffy, and you'll be on your way to a fabulous finish. Rippity Doo Dah, indeed, LOL!!
ReplyDeleteSo tiny "mistake", you are very brave to unsew! This quilt is beautiful, and yes, you can do it in a month!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with fixing the twisted blocks! I really love the color scheme of your ORL so I am very excited to see how you finish it. :D
ReplyDeleteHappy ripping out...you will love the quilt even more. One month is a doable timeline. Maybe I could get mine done too!!Did I do On Ringo Lake?!?!
ReplyDeleteI hope your ripping out and resewing will go smoothly!
ReplyDeleteA doable goal for you, I am sure!
ReplyDeleteYes, you have to finish your top--it's beautiful! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteIt will be worth the Ripp-in! had to use ol Jack a LOT on my Ringo Lake too. You're in good company. I did some again last night. Must be something in the air... Happy May Day!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on reaching your goal. The quilt is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI really can't find the error in the top photo! But if it will annoy you best to correct it. It is a real beauty.
ReplyDeleteKathy: The colors are perfect together, do you have to take the whole strip apart? or can you just do a small area, I am not a quilter.

Beautiful quilt. Thanks for linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal and good luck with your project.
ReplyDeleteRippity do dah...that made me laugh. Been there with my recent knitted shawl, but even with you pointing out the error, I'm not seeing it. My shawl however had points on the wrong side...I lost count apparently of the right and wrong side, even/odd. Argh. Good luck with your project.

Good luck with your repair and OMG for May. Your version of ORL looks terrific.
ReplyDeleteWell, at least it’s near the bottom, so it shouldn’t be too hard to fix. Just frustrating, I know. BTW, I really like your straight set - more than any other one I’ve seen. I started putting my ORL together on point last fall, but it’s the first time I’ve done an on point quilt. I think starting with ORL is not a good idea (ya think?) So, I’ve got a date with my seam ripper, too. Misery loves company, eh?
