It has been a real challenge to start learning the new Blogger system. I have made several mistakes, had misdirected posts, weird layouts, difficulty loading photos, and lots of frustration. I am relying on the clever bloggers who have been able to figure out some things about the new system and to share what they learn with us. You can find some helpful info at the bottom of this post from Barbara, and
Lyndsey has posted some helpful tips for us here. If you know of any other resources posts, please let us know in the comments. As Lyndsey said..."The blogging community is like a family and we all help each other. Especially in the current state of the world it would be very sad if anyone gave up."
Rainbow Scrap Challenge update:
Pink is the colour for June, and there is a lot of pink in my sewing room these days. Here are the flying geese blocks I am sewing for the last round on my Unity quilt.
pink shoo fly blocks |
I have quite a stack of scrappy blocks ready to be turned into a quilt top and that's what I will be sewing today. I'm thinking of using 1" sashing strips so that I don't have to struggle to match all those bulky seams. The quilt will be whatever size it becomes when these are all sewn together.

Thanks for the links to help with the blogger changes. I'm sure I will need them. Your shoo fly blocks will make a great quilt.
ReplyDeleteSweet PINK Shoo Fly blocks, Kathy! Have fun assembling your quilt. I'll be looking forward to seeing the resulting top.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the shoo fly blocks! So charming.
ReplyDeleteI use Wordpress and when Blogger upgraded their software I could not leave comments anymore on Blogger posts.
ReplyDeleteThe reason I could not was that I am an Apple user and use Safari. I had to go I and change the setting
If you are having that issue, do the following on your iPad, iPhone, Did not seem to have the issue on my iMAC
Go to Settings - Safari - Under Privacy and Security - UNCHECK "Prevent Cross-Site Tracking" if you wish to leave comments on Blogger!
Like your shoofly's!
Love the shoo fly blocks! Definitely use a sashing so all the pretty colors can shine through.
ReplyDeleteLove your Shoo Fly project! Thanks also for the links to help with blogger changes.
ReplyDeleteYour pink shoofly blocks are so much fun! Can't wait to see what you do with them! I'm so sorry you're having so much trouble with the new blogger format, Kathy. I've found it gets easier as I use it more, so hope you do, too. Lyndsey's post was really helpful and thorough - thanks for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteI think you are smart to use sashing with the shoo-fly blocks. It may be more work, but it's much less frustration. Ask me how I know. Good luck with the blogger upgrade. I don't blog so I can't offer any help.

Love those shoo fly blocks. I can't believe that a year has passed already! Glad you are pushing through the new blogger. Everything seems a bit more difficult at this time.
ReplyDeleteLove those pink Shoo Fly blocks. I was tempted with this Leader/ended challenge but somehow the time got away and I never started! Good ides to combine with the RSC challenge too. Looking forward to seeing how the quilt turns out.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me smile that you let the blocks tell you how big the quilt wants to be. Sounds like a great decision making process. You could write a book and call it "Intuitive Quilting"
ReplyDeletereally nice to have such a stack of the shoofly - I hadn't thought about it being time for a new leader/ender - I will start out behind
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you're experiencing difficulty with the new blogger. It took me some time to find my way around too. I think my problem is that I'm a "words" person and the meaning of icons is not immediately apparent. Yet, it is a question of just doing, and for me it soon fell into place, without my losing anything important.
ReplyDeleteI have quite a pile of shoo fly blocks too, but not enough to make a quilt and I'm wondering what to do with them!
Sweet Shoo Flies! Your Shoo Flies don't bother me ;) I like the one with the dancin' shoes.
ReplyDeleteSashing is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing that big stack of shoo flies turn into a top!
ReplyDeletePretty little shoo fly blocks, they will make a lovely quilt.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one struggling with this update. I sent a strongly worded 'request to continue to support the old platform' in the feedback form, but of course it won't matter.
ReplyDeleteI am getting used to it slowly but surely. My big gripe is that IE isn't very compatible - at least not the version that work requires. So I'm over in Firefox, where it seems to work better (ish).
Hang in there. I love your 'stack of Shooflies'. My own leader/ender is to the point of making blocks, so I can hopefully start Bonnie's new one later this summer.
What fun to have that pile of shoofly blocks to play with. I guess that Bonnie's setting with the alternating 4-patch blocks also eliminates the need for matching seams. However you decide to set the blocks, it will be a fun and colorful quilt.
ReplyDeleteI did my last post in the new blogger. It took me a bit longer to figure out where all the icons were for what I was used to doing, but it didn't seem to mess with me too much--at least no more than the old blogger did. :)
Thanks for the helpful links. I'll need them, didn't make the jump yet but will have to soon.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks look pretty and I like that you are happy with the size being what ever size it ends up. I often work that way too, especially for a scrapper.
I’m really excited to see your shoo fly blocks come together!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the links to the new blogger helps. It’s hard to teach this old dog new tricks!
I used to think I was pretty savvy, but the older I get the more that is not true!
What a stack of blocks! I'll be using the new blogger as of tomorrow (scheduled change date). I hope everyone's notes help me. I'm NOT tech savvy. I wish they wouldn't keep changing things that work.
