On Saturday I posted the miniature versions of Anita's Arrowhead blocks that I am making for one of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge projects. Those blocks are 3". But I am also making a larger blue version of this quilt with blocks that are 9". You can read about the beginning of this quilt here.
These blocks are so fun to make and I have finished sewing over 40 of them. Now I am sewing the blocks together in groups of twos and fours. Here they are on the design wall. I think I need to be careful about the dark ones and make sure they are not clumped together, but evenly spread around the quilt. What's on your design wall today? Linking up to Small Quilts.
I really love that Anita's arrowhead block...have made a lot of them in my life for comfort quilts. Will have to try to make some of those mini blocks LOL...oh oh....squirrel...new project!!!
I was hoping to get a design wall set up this weekend but I wasn't able to get to it. so on the design floor are some FPP triangle boarders in blue and yellow. I am intrigued that you like the Arrowhead blocks so much. what makes them so fun? (I haven't tried to make them yet, they look hard)
Your blocks are beautiful....and your comment about not having all the darks together, etc. is just the way I think. I move the blocks around and around and around on the design wall, trying to get the darks and mediums distributed around the quilt....and then I see a vintage quilt that I just love where they didn't do that at all! They look beautiful just the way you have them right now, no worries! Thanks for linking with Design Wall Mondays.
Your fabrics are gorgeous and I do love this block!

ReplyDeleteNot sure which ones you are calling darker but I love the darker background ones and how they make your eyes dart all over the quilt.

I like the secondary pattern that comes out subtly, too. 3" wouldn't happen here, but 9" is perfect!
