Quiltmaker Scrap Squad

I was honoured to be a member of Quiltmaker's 2015 Scrap Squad! Being a squad member meant that over the course of a year I made 6 quilts from their magazine patterns using my scraps. Those quilts were posted on the now defunct Quiltmaker blog called Quilty Pleasures. Most of the links for the Scrap Squad are gone now, being deleted since Quiltmaker was taken over by "The Quilting Company", but you can maybe read about it at unreliable links here or here
The links on my own blog posts have been updated to delete most of the broken links.

Scrap Squad quilt #1

My first Scrap Squad assignment was "Pointed Prisms" and you can read all about it here. This photo is my quilt hanging at my guild's show in May. Wow, that's one bright quilt!

Scrap Squad quilt #2
The second Scrap Squad assignment was a choice between 3 different patterns. I picked "Sea Glass" because my daughter is a diver and I had a lot of blue fabrics in my stash. Here is my finished quilt that I call "Under the sea". You can read more about it on my blog here.

Scrap Squad quilt #3
My third quilt was "Hero's Homecoming" - pattern by Janice Averill. I used up my Kansas Troubles scraps for this quilt (plus a few donations from my friend's stash to finish it up).
I don't usually like square quilts, but this one is a warm and cozy lap quilt. And I like that it is totally different from my first two Scrap Squad quilts. You can read more about it here.

Scrap Squad quilt #4
My fourth assignment was called "Blue Bayou". I chose a red, teal/blue, and white combination for this quilt. The best part of making this quilt was the variety of layouts you could try using one block. You can read more about this quilt, which I call "Confluence", on my blog here.
Scrap Squad quilt #5

The fifth Scrap Squad quilt is from a pattern called Candy Cane Crush. I set the block on point and used a purple, blue, teal colour palette. You can read more about it here and get the digital pattern here.

Scrap Squad quilt #6

For our sixth quilt we could chose any pattern published in Quiltmaker magazine! I chose the pattern "Which Way to Go" using red as a background and grey for the arrows. You can read more about it on my blog here.

It was so fun being part of the 2015 Scrap Squad! I enjoyed every minute of the experience and have 6 great quilts to show for it!  A huge thank you to the wonderful Diane Harris who was the Associate Editor at Quiltmaker magazine for her work in organizing the scrap squad. And to my fellow scrap squad members Pam, Emily, Donna, Julie and Keri for all the inspiration throughout the year. You can read Julie's summary post of her Scrap Squad adventure and see lots of photos here.
