Welcome to the weekly hand stitching party! Make yourself a cup of tea or coffee, or pumpkin spice latte to enjoy while visiting the blog links of stitchers around the world. It's so inspiring to see what other people are creating with their own two hands.
Last month my friend Deanna helped me to fix a mistake and I kept knitting, hoping to make it big enough to be a square cloth. But when the second big mistake happened, and I couldn't figure out how to undo the stitches, AND I am 4 hours away from my help/knitting therapist, I just got frustrated and cast off the stitches! I even forgot that I should knit a few rows of seed stitches on the edge! That's what you call a "knitters temper tantrum"!
Oh well... it's done and I will use it for my washing my own dishes instead of gifting it to someone. I am pleased that I tried something new, but I won't be stitching the "bee stitch" again! It stung me! LOL
What are you stitching today? Are you dealing with any stitching frustrations? Link up your project below...
I understand your knitting pain. I find it hard to fix mistakes too. Luckily, my knitting guru is also my walking partner and she gives me a hand when I get stuck. Do you remember the snowman I was knitting ? I’m stuck in that project. I have made several big mistakes on it and I’m now thinking I will just tear it out And start over . Sigh. Your bee stitch cloth looks interesting even if it doesn’t have a top border!!!
ReplyDeleteHow frustrating for you. But you finished the dish cloth and made it your own. As you say, stay away from that frustrating knitting stitch - try something a little more simpler next time.
ReplyDeleteHaha well I think that it looks just fine, I find learning new stitches so much harder now my concentration span is very short. Yes my biggest frustration is how to stop the threads from tangling, I spend more time trying to undo knots than actually stitching. Have a great Sunday.
ReplyDeleteYour semi-successful dishcloth is very pretty despite the mistakes. Thanks for the link to the patterns.
ReplyDeleteI think your dish cloth is pretty good, Kathy. Don't be so hard at yourself.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week and happy stitching.
I do have a stitching frustration. My granddaughter requested a knitted poncho for Christmas. I am not a fast knitter, I haven't knit in years. I got up to 2 inches and had to rip back, I got up to about 5 inches and found I had dropped a stitch somewhere. I have ripped about 4 times so far. I told her the other day I was going to give my old knitting machine a try which I haven't used in about 25 years, and told her if that didn't work, we were going to have to find a crochet pattern.
ReplyDeleteLOL on having a knitting therapist! I agree, this slow, hand-made hobby is supposed to be relaxing. But it is exciting to try something new. You made something useful and you FINISHED it. Perfect or not, it will definitely still do the job. It is a lovely stitch, but you do so many other dish clothes that are so cute. You've got this. Now you can move on to the next project. Sorry about the sting. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteYou're not alone with those mistakes in knitting that you can't figure out how to correct! I've been there, too. Hope you'll try that stitch again someday. Have a lovely Sunday with some kind of slow stitching, Kathy!
ReplyDeleteI know nothing about knitting so I would have never noticed the mistake. lol
ReplyDeleteEverybody has the occasional 'cursed' project. Even very experienced knitters. On the other hand, that's why dishcloths are a good trial for new stitches! Better luck on the next one.
ReplyDeleteThat’s so frustrating! But honestly, even with you pointing out the mistake, I really can’t see it.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would have noticed the mistake. Good for you to finish this!
ReplyDeleteKathy, I am in awe of anyone who knits anything! I think your little dish cloth looks amazing, mistakes or no mistakes. How lucky you are to have someone to tutor you with your knitting, even if they aren't quite local.
ReplyDeleteLooks great to me. Would never know there was a miss twitch. Don’t be so critical of yourself. Rejoice in your talent. Dotti 8n CT
ReplyDeleteFrustrating, but at least you attempted it and finished it off. I use imperfect dishcloths for cleaning the bathroom or floors, there is always a use for them.
ReplyDeleteI will remember to not try the bee stinging stitch! We have all been there on this one Kathy! Hugs
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy, it's always a pain when something doesn't go quite right - but at least you'll be able to wash dishes with it :-) Hope you have a good week!
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of beautiful linked projects under your post. Just wanted to compliment all those stitchers and you Kathy, don't worry about the bees.+
