Slow Sunday Stitching

Welcome to the weekly hand stitching party!

We are in full summer mode here, with long evenings and lots of time for stitching in full light. I love to sit outside in the evenings with a cup of tea and do some slow stitching until the setting sun takes away my natural light. This week I greatly enjoyed finishing the binding on my monthly placemat.

There is good news to report re: covid as the cases in Ontario  continue to drop so we are out of the woods once again. This is a graph that shows the improvement. However, my region is still considered a "hot spot" having higher numbers of covid so hopefully more vaccines are on the way.

Today I will be hand quilting some Life is Beautiful blocks.  I have pin basted 5 more blocks and hope to put stitches into some of them this week. This is the perfect take along hand work project, so I hope it sees lots of progress this summer.

What are you hand stitching today? Link up your blog post below and share your progress with us.

  1. Hi Kathy
Have you had your second vaccine yet? We get ours shortly. I’m so glad the numbers are down again and hope that we can avoid a 4th wave. Binding is such a satisfying hand stitching task! Nice to see a Life Is Beautiful getting some attention again.

  3. Early bird here today. Up and getting things done. Isn't is nice to sit outside and do some hand work. Unfortunately the bugs are bad here but I take a little time when I can. I am impatiently waiting for you and the rest of the piranhas to come for a visit. Hope it will be sooner than later!

  6. So glad that the Covid numbers in your area are starting to go down. Hopefully you won't be in a hot spot soon. I envy your ability to stitch outdoors in the evening. Unfortunately the mosquitos love me and bug spray is not conpatible with stitching.

  10. Hi Kathy,
The binding always seems to me to take longer than
making the top. Love your Life is Beautiful blocks..I've
thought about making one. Have a great day!

  11. Hope those covid numbers continue to decline! Life here in the midwestern US feels like old times, in most situations. Feels good!

  12. Good news on the Covid front. New York has lifted virtually all restrictions although masks are still required in medical facilities and other places that choose to require them. Here that includes the library and the quilt stores for some reason. I can understand the library as there are unvaccinated children in attendance, but quilt stores? Nice to see some more work being done on Life is Beautiful.
