I finished a knitted face/dishcloth this week and am very pleased with how it turned out. Look at how much yarn was left... that was really close! I am enjoying my needle threader and my Bohin needles for embroidery and for stitching in the yarn ends.
This "cherry blossom" Sudz yarn was lovely to work with. And the pattern from Knitwits Heaven was excellent. There is a whole section for parent themed patterns, and a large selection of other interesting patterns (no affiliation, just a happy customer). This will be for a Mother's Day gift and next I'll work on #1 Dad for Father's Day. It's so satisfying to give a hand made gift for special occasions, don't you think?
When that was done, I went back to my fall Kawandi quilt that was started in an online class with Sujata Shah. As you can see I am having a very hard time keeping the stitch length consistent, but am really enjoying the hand stitching process. Don't tell Sujata that I am using pins as that is a definite "no! no!" I can't help myself as it's hard to keep everything in place otherwise. What are you hand stitching today? Your little secret re the pins is safe with me. The pink Mum dishcloth is so pretty; such a gorgeous colour. Your Kawandi quilt is coming along beautifully.

ReplyDeleteAw, what a sweet gift for mom! If face cloth it would be nice with fancy or homemade soap. And what a sweet daughter to be thinking of mom so far in advance of her special day...and not only thinking but making and finishing!

ReplyDeleteMy class with Sujata Shah is next Saturday, I'm really looking forward to it. I'm pretty sure I'm going to use my Cherrywood fabrics, which look a lot like what you used. I guess I'd better get my prep work done soon!

ReplyDeleteI am totally in love with your Kawanda quilting and I would certainly need pins to help stabilize the layers. Your pretty and useful knitting gives me hope that when the day comes and I can't hand stitch I hope to still be able to knit. Happy Sunday to you, Kathy.
ReplyDeletei saw someone using magnets (called Sew Tites) to hold fabric bits whilst stitching - that might not be cheating (if the Stitch Police get wind of it, i know nothing ... nothing)

I love my needle threader like that one for the larger threads. Makes life so much easier. No hand work for me in a long time.
