I pieced block #2 on my favourite white Singer featherweight 221K sewing machine. Here it is sewing the modified hourglass blocks. It is 55 years old and still sews like a dream!
Here is my block #2 mostly made from the Strawberry Jam line of fabric plus some greys. The centre of my block is hand embroidered according to Jacquelynne's pattern. I'm so happy with how it turned out and think it goes together well with block #1.
There is another fantastic giveaway this month which is an Aurifil thread box! To enter your name in the draw to win the thread all you have to so is leave a comment below. Do you use Aurifil thread? And if so, which is your favourite?
My favourite is the 50 weight thread for machine piecing and quilting. I usually buy the neutral thread in large cones, but the 1300 metre size is easier to use as it fits on all machines without needing a thread stand.
Congratulations to Nanette!
I have been using Aurifil thread since 2003 for applique, then I started usin it for my machines! At that time there was only 1 Distributor and she was a jewel.
Kathy I love your blocks for Happy... BOM! Doing a great job on keeping up with your projects!

ReplyDeleteMy Aurifil selection is growing, but I confess I've been known to save it because "it's the good stuff" just like the towels that only get used for company. I use 50 weight and also have a vintage Singer - a 401A.
ReplyDeletebasaran.family@rogers.com
My favorite quilting thread is Aurifil #50. Love your block in such gorgeous fabrics.

ReplyDeleteI has been interesting to see the many ideas on each of the bloggers sites.

ReplyDeleteI use Aurifil 50wt for piecing and FMQ all the time. I usually use one of the creamy shades or lgt gray for piecing, but love to use variegated threads for FMQ. I finally broke down and bought a cone of #2000, but now I can't find the thread stand I bought months ago at a Connecting Threads sale. I put it in a safe place because I was constantly having to move it.
ReplyDeletePat

ReplyDeleteKathy, I have used Aurifill for about 6 years now and really like quilting with it. It all started when I bought my first spool of 50 weight to try, when it was on sale. It became my favorite thread, but 50 weight is my favorite and most used. I am always behind on keeping up with blogs I subscribe to, except yours sometime every Sunday for the Slow Stitching! I look forward to those happy, no drama posts so thank you for providing a calm and enjoyable place to encourage slowing down and enjoying some stitching.
