Mistake! |
I put the "pedal to the metal" to finish this quilt top and just love how it turned out! I especially like the bits of darker neutrals, the tiny fussy cut Santa faces, and how well the sashing fabric worked.
No WAIT!
Did you notice that I forgot to fix that @#$% mistake?!?!

How is that even possible!?! I can't believe it!
Now it's a harder thing to fix, but still easier than after it's quilted.
Will I remember to do the repair before I start quilting it?!? UGH!
I found six blogging friends that have posted their finished tops and 2 of them have even finished their quilts! Here they are:
*Check out Nancy's version over at Where's The Dude? The sashing and the border fabrics make it so fun!
*Jeanne at Spiral also has her quilt top done, and even made a little mini quilt from the leftovers!
*Cathy at Sane, Crazy, Crumby Quilting used gold background fabrics and her version just glows!
*You must see Carol's quilt at Artless Fabrications. She has lovely wintery photos to enjoy!
And I found two overachievers who have finished their entire quilt:
*Karen at Moose Bay Muses has the whole thing done... quilted, bound and even labelled!
*Joanne at Thread Head also has her quilt completely finished! Love the photo of it on the ice!
Congratulations to all of you! I know how much sewing went into this project and you guys are mystery quilt rock stars!
Have you seen other photos of the Secret Santa quilts posted in blog land? If so, email me so I can include a blog link in this list.
Now... where's my seam ripper?!?
**Just found Beth's version of Secret Santa posted here.
**And hop over to see Nann's lovely version with grey sashing at With Strings Attached.
**Look at Chantal's miniature version which uses 4 blocks....so adorable!
This is an absolutely stunning quilt! I'll have to read the post over, did you say how big the blocks and quilt are?
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is looking lovely. Burgoyne Surrounded is on my list of someday projects. I look forward to seeing how you quilt it.
ReplyDeleteWow! I love it! It's deliciously scrappy with so many different fabrics and tiny pieces. Congrats on getting it pieced up with plenty of time to spare before Christmas. And if you leave that one tiny glitch in accidentally, you can always use the Amish excuse :)
ReplyDeleteI learned "webbing" from Eleanor Burns about 27 years ago and use the technique so often. It sure helps to keep all those little bits in order. Well. Most of the time.
ReplyDeleteI looked and couldn't find the mistake! I printed out the directions for that quilt and I hope to make it this coming year to have it ready next year - I know I would not get it done in two weeks this year!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shout-out! Secret Santa was such a fun project and it's extra fun seeing all the different versions around the web. I've made a couple quilts with mistakes only to be found when it's way too late to "fix"--so aggravating! The good thing is that most people won't ever notice unless we point it out--which it seems we are always compelled to do--lol!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you forgot to fix that errant block. I'd had seen Cathy's flimsy which I really liked (I thought the darker background gave it a vintage look), but all of these are really great. Nice to see everyone was willing to do it their way. I think the scrappy background really add interest. Do you know if Temecula leaves the directions up on the blog? Someone else suggested thy would be removed. i know you've done their projects before.

It is an adorable quilt! I want one, but I don't think I will get it made, so I will content myself with drooling over yours on the screen (my computer screen needed cleaning anyway).
ReplyDeleteLove your version of this mystery quilt. It is very cheerful and makes me smile. When I saw that the block was Burgoyne Surrounded, (a block I really love) jolted down the sizes and made one block ... so far. I think I will just do four and make it a wallhanging. Congratulations on getting yours to the flimsy stage. ;^)
ReplyDeleteFantastic quilt! Doing it as a mystery, a little bit at a time was a good thing!
ReplyDeleteA Challenge to make, but easy one Mystery step at a time. #%/@@!! Ripper mus to come out, sorry. Watching from Washington State. No drooling here.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for collecting us all! I just love your stirpes!
ReplyDeleteYes, I noticed your mistake. Your quilt still looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteI'm betting that no one else will see the mistake unless you point it out again.
ReplyDeleteFantastic use of that striped fabric. I can see why you like this quilt so much. It is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt is a gorgeous quilt - love your rendition! Every time I see one of these I want to make it!
