I have had a week full of dilly-dallying, lollygagging and bed rest, while waiting for my back and head to heal after a fall last weekend. Of course there were a few short outings in order to keep my sanity. I took my portable hand stitching project to one of my favourite spots and enjoyed a chocolate shake and some quilting.
You can't rush healing. Cells knit themselves back together in their own sweet time and you just have to wait. The headaches have subsided but the back pain continues. This week will include a few more medical appointments to see if there is anything else I should be doing to restore pain free movement (and sitting).
Thank you for all your messages of encouragement and support! Your thoughts and prayers mean so much, and do help with getting through the frustrating, difficult days.
As of today there are 12 finished blocks for my Life Is Beautiful project on the design wall. Progress is slow and steady ...

ReplyDeleteBack pain is awful. So often it takes a lot of time to heal. I struggle with it off and on. I have to remind myself to get up and move and not sit in a soft chair so long.

ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about your fall. I do hope you recover well and quickly. This has been the summer from Heck for us. I think I see the sunrise now. Just have to have my left hand done for carpal tunnel on the 31st and then lose some more time for quilting for a few weeks. I am really looking forward to mid-September and October and 2018!!!! Keep us posted!

ReplyDeleteHappy to hear you are heading in the right direction with your recovery. Falls happen so fast but the recovery takes soooo long! Glad your headaches are gone. ReplyDeleteI hope you have a quick recovery. Back injuries are painful and do take time, but they interrupt our normal activities. Take care of yourself and enjoy your handwork!
ReplyDeleteKathy, So sorry to hear you got hurt in a fall.. but glad you have good doctors and are slowly healing! Also nice to have some slow stitching to do when you are feeling like it! I will now add you to my daily thoughts and prayers and hope you have a complete healing with no more headaches and more comfortable sitting and return to hand quilting your wonderinful Love blocks! I can't wait to see this quilt coming together... honestly I haven't visited here in a couple weeks as I have been absorbed in my own story momentarily... but I should be back next week with a post! :) Kathi

You know, there is a magnesium spray I picked up at my local Natural Grocers that works fabulous for my fibromyalgia pain. I wonder if it would help you? The trick is to wait 3-5 hour after your shower to spray it on. It is my lifesaver!

ReplyDeleteIt is my understanding that chocolate shakes contain medicinal properties; so glad that they seem to be helping you get back into the swing of things!
ReplyDeleteI'm behind on my blog reading and I'm just reading this now. So sorry!!! Hopefully by this point you are back to 100%. I work in healthcare and was just telling a patient today, that it's best to not be injured at all (she was saying sprains are worse than fractures). Best wishes!
