This week I will be putting some stitches into my next Life Is Beautiful block. There are a lot of curves in this design, so it helps to take smaller stitches to get the curves more rounded. I do contemplate the words of each block as I am stitching. But I save the actual stitching of the letters until last, because it's my favourite part and I enjoy the anticipation. Would you stitch your favourite part first or last?
So now it's your turn... being part of a tribe means you contribute in whatever way is comfortable for you. You can link up your hand stitching blog post below and/or visit some of the links that look interesting. See what you can learn, enjoy the sights, and leave comments to encourage your fellow slow stitchers. Happy Slow Stitching Sunday!

I never thought of what I would stitch first or last in a project like that. I think I would stich the easier parts (like x's) first and then work up to things like French knots and chains. I'm still a newbie at that kind of stitching. I haven't done much of it since I was a kid (about 10 or 12.)
ReplyDeleteOn my Life is Beautiful I also stitch the words first but I don't know why. Maybe subconsciously for the same reason as you!
ReplyDeleteIn applique I always stitch the favorite part, the flowers, last. All the tedious stems and leaves must be worked on first :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to be part of the tribe! I'm planning on some slow stitching later today...
ReplyDeleteMe too...happy to be part of the tribe! Have a good day.
ReplyDeleteI tend to stitch the larger elements first, then work to the smaller ones like French knots last. I hope I can figure out something to slow stitch this month! I like being part of this tribe.
ReplyDeleteThat's very funny...I'd save the stitching of the letters for last, too, but because it's my least favorite part! My letters never look as tidy as the rest of the stitching. I'll have to watch your progress to pick up some tips! January is the month in which depression is the highest, too, to it's good to have a tribe! :)
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of that "being part of a tribe" have a happy day stitching.
ReplyDeleteI like being part of the slow stitching tribe! Due to your posts I've made progress on several long forgotten counted cross stitch projects on Sundays which has renewed my love for that craft.
ReplyDeleteI, too, enjoyed your "sign" about being part of the tribe! I'm happy to join in today!
ReplyDeleteI like to do my favorite part first. If it has a face in it I always do that first. I love the tribe sign. Hugs,
ReplyDeleteI love those life is beautiful embroideries and will make such a pretty quilt I look forward to seeing the top all put together. I like to embroider my favorite parts first though lately I work left to right on the large blocks I was working on.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Kathy! Hoping to participate with the tribe all year. In addition to continuing a quilt-as-you-go project, I'm hoping to finally get started on a wholecloth quilting one. Your project sets the tone for the year -- Life Is Beautiful! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing this for us yet another year!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are gathering quite a tribe for the new year.
ReplyDeleteI don't do a lot of embroidery, so I have no idea whether I would do the lettering first or last.
I do my favorite part last, it makes me do the parts I don't like as well.
