This is the list of my ongoing RSC projects: Omigosh, Carrie Nation, Crumbs, Maverick Stars, Pumpkin Seeds, Spools, Alamo Stars, Palm Branches, and Scrappy Sprouts.
I like all these blocks. But I also like finished quilts. And I need some bins freed up to start new collections.
So what did I do this week? I started a new project, which is in direct opposition to my goal to finish some projects so I can have some empty bins.
I think I may have a problem! HA!
I spotted a block I really liked over at Mary's. Mary saw the block over at Heidi's. Heidi said there was a tutorial over at Linda's. And so I had to try it out, right?!? To make this block I used up some small aqua scraps from a quilt called "Under the Sea" that I made for my daughter. Linda's tutorial was great and it was a fun block to sew.
And so starts yet another RSC block collection.

UH OH! Sorry, They are really addictive! I like the scrappy block you made. I'm up late stitching my Circa Blocks. I'm addicted to SAL's. I'm all caught up with the 3" blocks now. I can count my HST's and see how many more I need to make the 120.
ReplyDeleteI do that. Check out a block I like. Decide to give it a try. LIKE it. Make more. See another block. Repeat. It IS an addiction, isn't it? Guess it could be worse!
ReplyDeleteGlad to read you started a new project too ! I've just started a log cabin project today. A WIP again ... And guess who inspired me. I read about Log Cabin Lunacy on your blog sometime ago and I jumped in ;-)
ReplyDeleteI get you! Way too many bins and not enough finishes!! It can feel a little overwhelming. Then last week at a quilt show saw yet another quilt that I just "have to make"!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is so hard to resist when a new idea sparks our creative side! I need more finishes in my quilt life, too, but sometimes my hands just want to make something new!
ReplyDeleteOh Kathy I did laugh. My husband complains I have too many tabs open on my PC, but I say imagine if I tried to carry them all in my head!
ReplyDeleteI don't have many ongoing projects, but like you, I am easily tempted!
The only way to cure startitis is to finish something. It is always so much fun when inspiration strikes that it can be hard to resist. Is there anything on the list that is close to a finish? Anything that could be downsized to a small quick quilt? So many pretty projects on your list though. What a great problem to have.

ReplyDeletehmmmm. Buy more storage boxes? I too have this issue and am really trying to finish something.... Got one to a top and hope to prep it for quilting today.
ReplyDeleteToo funny....I have found that I also have too many tabs open and I am working on getting some of them closed. The new block looks great!

ReplyDeleteI fully understand you starting another new pattern... especially since it is this one. Love it. It creates a circle of squares! Just my kind of visual pun.
ReplyDeleteWhen I don't start a new quilt I get frustrated working on the same old thing, and don't work on the older quilts either... so in my case, it's a good thing to start another.

Making my UFO list with Vicki Welsh over the last two years has really helped me stomp out the new project desire. I have quite a competitive bent, so having to publicly report my new starts and finishes drove me on. I had a ridiculous number of half done or easy to do projects on that list, along with too many Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks! Now I'm down to 16 UFOs/ongoing projects, and I think that means I get to start a few new!
ReplyDeleteYou pointed out what I'm recognizing in myself. It's not out of hand yet, but my ongoing list is a reminder. Too many tabs, no room for thinking. That new block looks like a photo display, very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI don't have quite as many block collections going as you do (I don't think!) but I know the feeling of needing to start building quilts with them. I haven't done that yet either. ;- )
ReplyDeleteThat is a great block, and I can see why it was so tempting. I have done that multiple times myself! I think sometimes it's just fun to play with the scraps and see what happens!

ReplyDeleteHahaha! All these people that will quilt your finished top for you - why aren't there a quilters saying they'll finish the stuff we start? ;)
ReplyDeleteYou are a hoot!! I'm impressed that you know what all of the projects are. I'm constantly surprising myself with things I pull out of my closet, "oh look at that! I forgot all about you!". And in my opinion, there is no such thing as too many eternal projects like yours. Once a person told me that they always finish their current project before starting the next one and I STILL cannot wrap my mind around that! =)

I agree, RSC projects are addicting. But you've got a fun block started for the next round of RSC colors. One of these days you'll have lots of finished quilts.
