At the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, January is the month for sewing up blue scraps.
This is my first Mad City Mama block. I am not sure what to do in the centre block, or what colour to use for the triangle pieces on the corners of the strip pieced blocks. I am thinking about using yellows which might look like stars.
It has been so enjoyable to sort, cut, and re-visit the scraps in the blue bin.
I have no idea where the fun charm square (on the left) came from. I considered using it for the centre square but it took over the whole block. The blue strips on the right are from the trimmed backings of three different quilts from many years ago. They hold good memories and were cut up into the right size pieces to go into the blue block.

ReplyDeletelove your MCM!
ReplyDeleteGreat use of your scraps. How about a diagonal string block in the middle? ... or 4 of them to make a diamond? Just thinking out loud...... =)

ReplyDeleteGreat start on the new quilt blocks. So many scraps all living in harmony. It makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteMaybe purple for the center square? (Angela's accent color for the month) or maybe for the triangles to make the star?
ReplyDeleteI hadn't seen this block before (Bonnie Hunter has So.Many.Patterns!) - it looks like it'll be a fun quilt.
I love this blue block. The name, too. Excellent use of scraps.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful Mad City Mama block . . . will be fun to see this evolve during RSC.
ReplyDeleteYou used up a lot of scraps with that block. I like the idea of making a yellow star out of the center
