My UFO of the month has been mostly pin basted. But we have run into a problem. Can you see it?A wavy border problem.
Just on one side.
Ugh.
I have no idea how that happened, but obviously there are so many pleats that I won't be able to quilt them out. The whole time I was pin basting, I was debating what to do with this border. I decided to finish the basting up to the red sashing border. Then I will remove the outside border, re-measure, and reattach. Then I will re-baste that side of the quilt.
How did the month get to be half over so soon??!!
before up do all that put the section on the ironing board use a lot of spray starch and the steam the "heck" out of the border till dry. DO NOT move to the next section until the one on the board is complety cool. Worth a try.

ReplyDeleteHate when things like this happen when we are pin basting.The indecision...to fix, not to fix? You know in the end you are gonna fix it but what a pain. You will be happy when you at the machine quilting. Aren't the days just flying by!

So annoying when that happens! ;) Sounds like you have a good plan in place to fix it so that you can finish your quilt.

ReplyDeleteIf you dig in and get it done you will be glad. My MO is to shelf it and forget about it for a long time. I am trying to overcome that and move on things immediately. Set a good example for me, okay? : )
I'm new to quilting and am wondering, how does this happen? Would be helpful to know if you have time to explain.
ReplyDeleteDid you stitch it differently? I have been told to put the Border on the bottom to let the feed dogs do the work. You can do it quick! I am glad you noticed it before quilting.

ReplyDeleteA very good question! I really need to work on my UFO this weekend... other things keep taking priority over quilting. =(. Good luck with the fix and I'm sure you will have it all pinned and ready to quilt in no time.
ReplyDeleteBeen there! It takes less time to take it off and measure to replace than it does to try to work with it. Lovely quilt, will be wonderful when you are done.
