What a fun quilt it has been to make! My version is a soft, light version of Jacquelynne's pattern. I made my quilt smaller by eliminating all the alternate squares, and just using the 5 stitchery blocks on point.
It measures 34" square, which is the perfect size for a wallhanging.
I would have liked to use more of the blue colour in the quilt top, but didn't have enough yardage, so I added a little blue flange around the edge using this technique. I'm so happy with that bit of blue peeking out there to interrupt all that pinkness.
The free motion quilting was a little tricky at times because I did not want to quilt on the embroidery, so I tried to slow down and quilt as close as I dared to the stitching.

I like that you turned yours into a Wall Hanging. Very lovely. Have not started this project yet but I have downloaded all of the blocks so that I can work on them in the future.

ReplyDeleteI also made a piped binding for mine, (now I wish I had shared that in my post!) I felt like I needed to bring the red to the outside just a touch. Seeing your finish make me even less patient to finish my own!

ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Love your embroidered blocks. I think they look so lovely done in one color. I made mine in green. Hand embroidering is relaxing and brings back so many memories of days gone by when I first learned how to stitch.
ReplyDeleteI have indeed started my Cozy Afternoon---all 3 versions: A thimbleberries with applique, a 30's repro with embroidery and a Laurel Burch with fussy-cut cats! I just love Jacquelynne's well-written, easy-to-follow patterns.

ReplyDeleteI got in late on the this BOM and have been working hard to get my blocks done. I managed to finish the last 3 this weekend and I'm hoping to start the sashing and borders this weekend. I used a novelty print for my centers since I was playing catch up and also wanted to use what I had in my stash. I like how you made yours without the alternate blocks.
