I have been working on my first Scrap Squad quilt, but the quilt reveal won't happen until later this month. I can show you some sneak peaks though :)
I do not ordinarily use pins when sewing seams, but on this quilt, I am using many pins. The pattern has a lot of bias edges that could stretch, and a bazillion points to match, so using pins is a necessity.
And there are a lot of dog ears to trim from triangle ends, which of course I am keeping. Aren't they so pretty?? I am looking for a little jar to store them in. Why, you ask?!? Why not?!
Such pretty colours, can't wait to see the quilt! A friend of mine was saving dog ears and thought to put them in a big glass jar of some kind and and make it into a lamp.
I started keeping a jar of those bits too after seeing yours. They are so pretty and I have people asking WHY too!!! Your colours are so bright and cheerful..must be fun to sew with during these dull cold winter days!!!
I saw a small town sewing show once where the lady laid down snippets of color (and she cut hers from yardage!) then laid over a piece of netting and sewed over it all. It was quite pretty. You'd have to keep your colors separate - or not. I keep all my snippets for floor pillow stuffing. Hugs
Sneaky peaky! Looks pretty, sounds interesting! I always think it's a shame to throw away little bits but wonder how I can justify keeping them...Why not? is the perfect solution!
The bias edges are definitely a challenge and I will be pinning like you! I see you followed directions and pressed the seams open. I did not, I think it will work out, she shall see!

Pretty colors! I've seen where some people save the trimmings and put them in clear Christmas ornaments and hang them on their tree.
ReplyDeleteLooking for the real reveal.
ReplyDeleteEven the sneak peek looks pretty! Scrap on!

Totally different topic. Where in Michigan do you visit? I have been up there and go to Lansing. Maybe one day we will cross paths.

ReplyDeleteLooks like a challenging piecing job, but you seem to have it conquered.
ReplyDeleteThose are happy clippings--confetti for a party. : )
Love all those bright colors you are using. Can't wait to see what you've got going.
ReplyDeleteThe fabrics are so pretty. I am very intrigued...can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteFrom the dog ear pile---it speaks spring and Tutti Frutti colors. How exciting to wait for the reveal!!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't sure we would be able to see your quilts. So glad we don't have to wait too long.
ReplyDeleteI started collecting those dog ears once, until my friends threatened an intervention ~ lol!
