Last Saturday I was able to visit the London Friendship Quilters show and besides enjoying a great quilt show, I was inspired by chatting with my old friend Jacqui and her husband Jake. They restore vintage machines and have an incredible collection of antique sewing machines. I only wish I had my camera with me (I know...BAD blogger!) so I could show you their amazing display.
They reminded me how much I love my old machines and I spent last night sewing on my much loved 1901 Singer Treadle while watching QuiltCam over at Quiltville. Did you join in and sew with us? If you didn't catch it live, you can always watch the YouTube archived show.
I wasn't able to sew very long before Granddog Max decided he wanted to treadle. Can you see how that presents a problem?!?
He brought his favorite toy under the machine and kept trying to "help".
Eventually I stopped trying to treadle more scrap strips, and spent the rest of the time removing the adding machine tape/paper from the back of completed strips. That's a very easy but boring job, which was made more fun by watching QuiltCam!
Poor Max, he looks a bit forlorn. Even if you didn't stitch much, it's definitely progress to get the paper off the completed strips.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to get mad at that cute little face! He was just trying to help... At least you got some of the paper off.
ReplyDeletei can empathise on the getting under your feet problem if its not a large ginger cat its the munchkin making grandma go faster!!!
ReplyDeleteI am making some foundation strips very similar to yours. My smallest scraps are going into these. I need to designate a couple of days a month into getting more of these done as I haven't worked on them in months. I watched quilt cam last night and put some applique stitches into my swag border. It's nice to stitch along!
ReplyDeleteHe managed to get your attention . . . (giggle). Glad you were able to take off papers instead.
ReplyDeleteI was binding along with Bonnie...but my puppy was trying to get my attention too.Don't know how she didn't get picked with the needle when she kept jumping up into my lap!!
ReplyDeleteBad blogger...no camera at a quilt show..what were you thinking?!?! ;)
Perfect project for quilt-cam. Our helpers are a lot of help some days.
ReplyDelete"Grandma, aren't we going to play anymore?"
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little face.
Yeah, removing papers is a good choice while watching Quiltcam. Makes a tedious job more bearable!
He is so cute, how can anyone get upset with him. Love your sewing machine.
ReplyDeletenot sure Max could be called a helper more like a hinderance I fear!
ReplyDeleteI sometimes have that problem with my cats when they want to play fetch. It does make it hard to avoid our pets sometimes!
