The UFO I decided to work on this month is a small quilt made from a John Flynn laser cut kit. I really enjoyed sewing these little blocks together (click here to see how small they are).I finished sewing the quilt top together 3 years ago, and then stopped at the border decision stage. Ugh!
So my first step will be to purchase border fabrics.
Oh too bad ... I have to go shopping now!
My goal is to border, quilt and bind this before the end of May. To see more May goals, hop over to A Lovely Year of Finishes link up.
You did such a good job making those blocks so accurately! Well done! I'm pleased to hear that you are going to buy a border fabric for it to get it finished, as it deserves to be on show!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Good luck on getting this beautiful quilt finished this month.
ReplyDeleteI love that Storm at Sea! How big will the finished quilt be?
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt!! I have a kit very similar to yours...just have not put it together. Fun UFO!
ReplyDeleteNo border would work too! Lovely.
ReplyDeletereally neat - but does it really need a border? it looks great as is in my humble opinion
ReplyDeleteI love a SAS pattern and hope to do one someday... they no longer have that pattern for your cute little quilt... maybe some fun darker/lighter batik with a dark/light binding will work out for you for this cutie! Or you could knife edge such a small wall hanging for a different kind of finish :) Would look lovely on this little thing :) Happy stitching and thanks for sharing your UFO! Kathi
ReplyDeleteSo tiny and perfect! I'm glad this one is coming out of hiding and getting finished.
ReplyDeleteThat is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI took a class from John Flynn maybe 20 years ago. I haven't heard anything about him in quite a while. Wonder if he is still making quilts.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! I look forward to seeing it all finished! :0)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! You do have the knack with those tiny piecing projects. Glad this one got the next go ahead from the pile!
ReplyDeleteOh my! They are TINY! Love the colors! You did an excellent job piecing this quilt. Did I say the pieces were tiny? I get stuck on borders too, in fact I know I will have trouble deciding on sashing and borders for my Little Basket quilt I am working on now. Happy shopping!
ReplyDeleteI remember you making this quilt. It is a Lot like the Celtic Solstice Mystery. Can you do a border treatment like we did on that? Have fun shopping! I am quilting my CS this month, wish me luck...
ReplyDeleteI remember when you pieced this Kathy! It's so gorgeous :) Such a shame that you are forced to go shopping to find the perfect border *tongue in cheek* Looking forward to seeing what you choose :)
ReplyDeleteOh, Kathy, I am loving this little quilt! Can't wait to see what you decide to do for borders!
ReplyDeleteso tiny! well now it has paid off as it will be quicker to finish this very pretty quilt
ReplyDeleteI remember this quilt, it's beautiful. Hope you find just the right border fabric for it.
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy,
ReplyDeleteVisiting thanks to Sew BitterSweet Designs' A Lovely Year of Finishes. Got to that through Quilting is More Fun Thank Housework...in other words I am in the blog vortex... LOVE and am astonished at the teensy Storm at Sea quilt you did in 2011! It has always been one of my favourite patterns. Not in this size, however, LOL! The perfection of the points and lined up seams is awesome. Issues with google+ profile which I deleted, and took back my Blogger profile, but just in case:
