Visit Your Quilt Shop!

Today is "Visit Your Quilt Shop" day!
There is so much to read and enjoy on the website - click here.
I won't have time to visit any quilt shops today, but it is a great reminder to all of us that "if you don't use it, you lose it" so support your local quilt shops!
My closest quilt shop (Lyn Bell Designs) is closing due to retirement of the owner, and I was very sad to hear about that.
At my last visit to the shop, I bought some wonderful flannels to piece for the back of my January UFO, so it will be somewhat of a reversible quilt. This week I finished sewing the quilt top together and made the top and bottom borders wider to give the quilt more length. I am excited to use up all this old flannel. This is a combination of leftovers from three different projects! Now I have one more week to quilt it before the end of the month...

  1. So nice to get a finish on a languishing project! I have always intended to do a snowball quilt, but so far it hasn't materialized (pun intended).
I had plans to visit 3 or 4 quilt shops today, but we are experiencing freezing rain today. The roads are a sheet of ice and the only road to access two of the shops is currently shut down. I may not go anywhere!

  2. I really like your flannel scrap quilt, so satisfying to get those pieces out of the closet and into a quilt. My local QS is over an hour drive away so I don't visit too often. Good for the wallet but I miss petting fabric.

  4. Great job on working your UFO! In my cleaning I found a whole bunch more. As long as I make some progress on my listed ones this year I will be pleased.

  5. This will make a great snuggle quilt. I love it. I'm sorry your shop is closing. I hope you have another one not too far away. I am very lucky to live where I live. There are several shops within a 50 mile radius of me that are great shops. My favorite shop closed down due to the owner retiring last year and I really miss that shop. She had everything. Flannels, 30's, Civil War, brights, modern with great classes and great teachers too. The other shops are good but she was my go to shop. I don't buy as much as I used to because I use my stash but I do buy my backings and threads at the LQS and I don't want them to close. I hope you get this quilted in time, have fun with it!

  6. I didn't make it to the quilt shop today but did the two previous days, so I did my part. I just wish the local shops carried more of the style fabrics I like. I would rather shop local than online. It is better to see the fabrics in person and know what you are getting than to guess from the pictures you see online.
