Design Wall Monday #35

On my design wall today is my quilt top from the Crazy Mom Quilts' 36 Patch Quilt Along.
This is a very fast turnaround time (for me) for this project, since I posted my first blocks on my design wall posting just 3 weeks ago. And also it was an "add on" project that I had not even intended to start (I have no self-discipline!)
It looks better in real life than on the computer screen and I am delighted with how much I actually like it (especially since I don't really love floral prints!) I am planning to add a white border, then a scrappy border with the leftover squares, then maybe another white border. I think that this quilt top might not even make it to the UFO closet, since quilting ideas are already swirling around in my mind!

  1. Must look like a million bucks in person because on the screen it looks like a thousand dreams! I love it. I smiled how you described this as an "add on" with you having no self-discipline. That's my kinda quilter.

  4. This looks so great in florals, never would have thought of doing them that way. A Woo-Hoo on your finish!!

I can so relate to "add-on floral projects" -- I did the same thing with Bonnie Hunter's "Floribunda" QAL. Now the hard part is to get back to the original projects I was working on.

  6. I LOVE THIS!

Self discipline??? What's that?! Although after seeing your start, I've thought of this so many times but so far have resisted. But you know I'll make one!

  7. Kathy this looks wonderful. And, just look at your UFO Wish List -- you only have four to go. So, you get an "add on." I'm not sure I would have enough florals to do this but I am definitely not going to even look.... really, no.

  9. Very fun quilt! It is great for florals--even if you don't like them. Years ago my Mom made a watercolor quilt. She gave me all the leftover little 1 1/2" squares. I have slowly been making 64 patch blocks from them and since they are floral they look very similar to these. Your result makes me want to dig them out and finish it up!

  10. I really like how the colors blend into each other. This is a very peaceful quilt. And I would be itching to quilt it, too.

  12. It is beautiful onscreen too, Kathy! This is such a great way to rescue not-very-favorite florals and make them pretty pretty pretty.

  13. Oh dear, I really shouldn't have looked at this. So, I will declare it all your fault if I take this from a "not right now" project to I have to do it now. (giggle) It is absolutely gorgeous!!!

  16. I misread the title of the quilt and I thought yes - that is crazy to sew all those 36 squares together! But it really is worth it, it's so pretty. It will be lovely on a bed.

I totally love your header! Swoon!

  22. It's beautiful. I think it's one of my favorite ones. I only have meandered so far on my quilts, except some table runners with a cross hatch design. I'm anxious to see that you come up with. I'm sure it'll be great.
