I got all my Paperweight FQ's cut, and started cutting from the red and blue scrap bins.
I cut out all the remaining bricks needed for the donation quilt for next year (see this post for the pattern link) and have been sewing the bricks into columns. This is how it is taking shape on the design wall.
I have also made a few mistakes (not serious ones like wearing 2 different shoes!).
When power sewing, several times I sewed two bricks stuck together...rip, rip, rip.What are you sewing with your scraps today?
This is one of the quilts on my list too! Yours looks very cheerful and energetic. Yeah, I have sewn two pieces together like that too...not the kind of two-fer you want!
ReplyDeleteTwo different shoes--that's a good one. My DH did that when he traveled out of town for a big sales show--had to walk around a convention center in two different shoes all day, one black, one brown :)

ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at your sewing error, only because I just did the very same thing with a couple of my 21" strips on Floribunda. The fabric must have had a bad case of static cling! : )

ReplyDeleteWhat I like about your quilt is that you used mostly blue and red and that ties it all together.When I saw Bonnie's quilt I wasn't too interested in doing it but after seeing yours I want to start one.
ReplyDeleteI'm indulging my latest "enthusiasm" - I have been collecting Vintage Designer Sheets (OK, sheets from the Goodwill store). I got a really pretty floral that I made the focus fabric of strip quilt blocks (using up my stash of floral fabrics), and now I'm sewing the blocks into rows. I have enough of the sheet material left for borders, backing and binding. It will be a donation quilt for the group I do charity quilting for. AND I had plenty of fabric left over to make 2 1/2", 2" and 1 1/2" strips to put in my strip storage bins for future use.

ReplyDeleteSeems like ripping out was the thing to do this week. I only had two blocks to do Friday. The first one went together perfectly. The second: I had to rip out three seams before it was finally done. I think I had put on the wrong head.

I really need to practice your 'be patient' block in the next post..... a 3 year old and a 2 year old really are trying my patience lately... on top of buying a house, selling a house and finding an interim place to stay before moving across the country... I see lots of sewing in my future the next couple of weeks!
